Hi there,

knowing full well that Mettermrck and Anibal are BETAring away till the early hours....

is there any chance of a small snippet of BETA AAR to made to the public?

- Can I also ask that this thread be kept open and posters allowed to post here if they wish to see a BETA AAR in some form made available?

TIA,
Mr H and other Mr MODs.

Basically, it's a good idea. An early Beta AAR could bring some of the people that left this forum back. But I don't think we should expect it to happen. Early Betas are not exactly perfect and an AAR based on it may seem flawed....

Cheers Alex,

Thats basically what I figured, but well anyways.

I wasnt thinking about a huge one, but perhaps a limited one perhaps showing a section of the game that is done and reflects a good point in the game. Hell, send dem screenies to me and Ill do a storyboard version!

Maybe a early preview of mobilizing an army, or a crusade, or maybe the joy of two children fightning for their inheritance.

I'm sorry, but IMO it's not a good idea. Beta AARs have not been released until the games were close to completion. Having an earlier AAR then e.g. Victoria had would just show so many of the things the developers and testers weed out in those last few weeks before gold, and would give wrong impressions about the final product.

Well, you're right (and I admited it). But Beta AARs could replace, in some degree, the demo files. Not perfectly, not without mistakes, but the nice thing is that Paradox games are more about feeling than about mechanics. A good early Beta AAR would tell a story not describe the interface. And if most people knew what kind of elements the game would contain, maybe they would be more than interested in purchasing it. Besides, an early beta AAR would be so far more cheaper than the actual demo....

I'm sorry to disapoint you, but all I can say is: it's still kind early for a BETA AAR. Unfortunately... but keep on lurking around here, who knows one day you can see one here!
:)

Thats a fair comment! Will wait till someone decides that one can be released.
Thanks all the same.

Already standing down, 2Coats? Man, you're weak! ...

Eh, I would recommend the Mongolian Scenario for EU2 if you really want some medieval action before the real medieval action

Weak....? I guess I like to choose battles I can win. Diplomacy is a good friend when youre my age. Added to that, in PE terms I still a nobody, so have no clout, as it should be!

Just thought that this would be good too look at, as I dont really like what Isee about Victoria, except the new engine of course. Still I will get it and play at least one game on it. Hell I might actually finish one.

That said, taking the anglo saxons on a rampage through Continental Europe is more my thing after: WW2 and Ancient Rome, not Papal Rome :p

Or a Viking Raiding party round the globe....! :D

Weak, Im gonna ki..... J/K you anacist you! :D :hug ;)

Well, with EU1 and EU2, Paradox attempted to please everybody, which they did. Both games were universal in scope, lengthy in time and general enough not to get on anyone's nerves...

HOI, Victoria and CK represent games for the second generation, suitable only for a particular timeline and gamer...So, it's understandable why you have formed certain preferences towards them. I must say Victoria is a lot of fun, if you are ready to accept that conquest is not everything. HoI was completely different...war was everything. Hopefully, CK will be a true reflection of medieval times, as it should be....not many conquests, but many crusades..... :)

As for Paradox games, I remember a MASH quote...very appropriate for this occasion: "Listen, when you love somebody, you're always in trouble. There's only two things you can do about it: either stop loving 'em, or love 'em a whole lot more."

And I think we'll keep on living them a whole lot more, Alexandru... otherwise my name is not Anibal... :D

Alex - Dont get me wrong, Im not slurring the game, but wont play it as much! Even though HoI was a mess when i got it, I stopped playing EU2 and every other game I was playing.... Only just recently will have I started playing games from other companies.

Always welcoming evolution, but everyone has tastes and the time period really doesnt interest me, thats all.

Mettermrck - Im sure I will. :)
