Hi,

not sure if this would be possible or if it is too late, but selectable and editable lanes on roads would be extremely nice. Just imagine having a two way lane that you want to make one way - instead of tearing down the road and connected buildings, you just select the lane you want to change and change the direction. It would also allow for some odd lane configurations on a single road (like 3 lanes in one direction and only one lane leading the other way).

With lane selection, you could also provide turn directions to lanes - such as allowing traffic to turn right, left or go straight. The player could also then also indicate multiple lanes to turn (and potentially restrict turning left on an intersection to only public transit).

Lastly - have other vehicles move into alternate lanes when emergency vehicles are approaching. The could move into other lanes or parking spaces to let the vehicle pass. Lastly - let emergency vehicles run lights and turn in any direction at all intersections (and choose a free lane to do so). This was always one of my peeves in CiM2 - seeing the police stuck in traffic with free lanes all around.

Keep up the great work. So looking forward to playing this!

You can upgrade roads or downgrade them but you can't set how many lanes you want to turn right and how many lanes you want to turn left etc.. They explain it in this video:

That was my question in the stream :p.

But I think her answer 'dedicated lanes are not realistic because of too much micromanagement' (something like that) is not satisfying. They should implement it in the game an optional feature. When a specific crossing causes huge traffic jams due to shortage of turning lanes (like in CIM2), you could easily solve that with a this feature. I have said this before, but I really think they should look into this.

I REALLY hope this is added. Lane management will help a lot to relieve traffic. A lot of times in CiM2, I would have one lane backup while the other lanes were empty because everyone was trying to turn right. If I had two (or even three) right turn lanes, traffic would've been a lot smoother.

Surely all they would need is one tick-box for 'road layout automation' - when set to on (by default), then you can't micromanage things like turning/bus/emergency lanes, but if you choose to turn it off then you can.

I came across this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-M4uvgIfY1Y (from 1:34). A perfect example of the bad traffic behaviour. Please implement this feature and don't let this happen again!

I'm gonna be honest though, that actually looks fun to try and solve. But yeah, we need cims to behave properly. They should know what areas are the most congested and what are fine.
