The only elections that happen using events are the USA elections. The files in the elections folder are unused; they were only added in the last few patches because they WERE going to move all elections to events. That's why my fixpack eliminates those events to remove confusion. All other elections are controlled by the minister files. (The fixpack adds an event for Japan's 1937 election which is critical to having a historical Far East situation and sometimes doesn't work right from the minister file.) Note the minister files don't allow elections on a specific date, only a year.

so then elections only alter cabinet members and cant effect any other aspect of the game..unless i wanted to write events like the USA has...

If i wanted to do that to another country, and substitue an event-based election instead of a minister-file election, how would i stop the minister file election from running?

Remove the lines containing ELECT_A and ELECT_B. Move the ministers following those lines down below the "Replacements" line. Events are really the right way to do the elections; I wish Paradox had released the ones they were working on. Looks like they just used them in HoI2 instead.
