I've looked at the province.csv file, and it looks like it has a lot of game-affecting stuff stored in it. My question is, how much does it all actually affect the game if I change it? Some examples of what it has:

Province names (I suspect changing them in the file wouldn't change the names on the map itself though)
City names
Province production/trade income
Province religion
Province area/region/continent
Some sort of variable that apparently controls the likelyhood of appearance of COT in the province
Province resource
Value of gold mine in the province
Province manpower
Some numbers controlling where the city/army/port graphics appear on the map
Whether the province has a port

So, if I change any of the above, how much will actually appear in the game?

i have been succesful in changing province resources and making an 'inland' province that actually borders a sea coastal.

If you change the province name, it won't change on the map, but does change it in all the other places.

How did you get it to work?

When I went in just to correct spelling errors in the province.csv file, even though I was careful to save the file as text, the game would give me an error when loading the scenario (catholic.txt not found), and would quit to the desktop.
