So what is the deal with EEP and Mac users playing EU2? I read a thread that talked of it not working, but I got the impression that someone was working on fixing it. Has anyone heard/ thought of this problem's solution?

No I think the problem is that moddir is set up differently on the Mac.

edit: Vander, your sig - isn't that from a Warren Zevon song? Or is there an anonymous attribution that predates him?

Who would know the difference between the two platforms?

If you read the changelist for Mac 1.02, I believe the 'moddir', which on the PC is set via the commandline, is set on the Mac using the settings program.

Actually while I could be wrong I think all we (mac users) would need to play it is a zip file with all the files in it.

This would then be put in a folder, and then when we launch EU 2 we will have the option to name that folder and play from it (works fine for the AGC that was posted "with the setup program allready run" in the mod forum).

So far I've not seen a single version of the EEP that's not a .exe file though :(

Now the reason for this might very well be that the .exe does something additional which I don't know about I suppose (I haven't read that other thread you mention).

Yes, or that's my impression, it's worth a shot atleast.

It's what was done with the AGC (though not for that purpose).

Only thing I notice is that the mac program aparently thinks that the name for the scenario file that comes with AGC is a little long which makes it cut of the end of it in the screen where you select it. It does not affect gameplay as far as I can tell though.

Is there any PC user interested in running the setup program, ziping the resulting folder and uploading it here?

This is the version of AGC I got to work.

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=90938

You put the folder it produces in the "EU data files" folder, press alt while starting EU2 and type in "AGC" (or whatever you name the folder) in the dialoge that pops up.

Doesn't work for me. Failure to load at the end of the loading screen with Portugal at least. Does changing the language help ? I tried in French

One more question what AGC version do you use ? In the link you gave I tried the most recent.

I'm on Mac OS X.2.6

I actually downloaded both but ended up using the first (older) one.

It's working fine for me currently playing England...

Have you got the latest patch for EU2?

Downloading that eep zip right now to see if I can get it to work.

EDIT: I left The language settings set to English though.

Tried the eep posted, the game took a whole lot longer to load when I chose to load the EEP folder.

To test I picked the 1520 scenario, as Sweden.

Unfortunatly I got what i've noticed is refered to on these forums as a "CTD" once it was done loading the scenario :(

I think I'll try the other scenario as another nation just to be sure, but it isn't looking good.

Atleast I can play the AGC...

EDIT: Didn't work as England in 1419 either :(

I downloaded the latest 1.02.2 patch so I guess there's not problem from there. Does the previous build of the AGC works better ?

CTD that's exactly what I got but for the AGC
I can see the dialog box pop-up and type AGC but everything stops. I'll try in English before despairing though ;)

I think i'll post your AGC workaround in the IMG thread so that more people can test.

edit : doesn't work in English either :(
can't get even the first build to dezip... What's the stufflt version you're using ?

According to Alex Curylo (programmer who did the port to the Mac) here's the reason it won't work on the mac :

That's not a crash, that's a planned quit when it finds a command in the data files that it doesn't know how to handle.

Specifically, the error it throws up internally is

"ERROR : (Illegal Command Type) \'type = removecot\' Line = 27 file = AGC\events\agc_netherlands.eue"

which appears to be caused by the line

command = { type = removecot which = 380 }

Far as I can tell from my Windows 1.07 source drop, that is not a valid command. And I also see this command in major_mos.eue, major_pol.eue, and major_swe.eue, for starters.

So as long as you have that command in your datafiles, they're not going to load with the current version. You could try editing it out, or you could try figuring out why the PC version is able to understand it when the supposedly latest code I've been sent doesn't seem to know anything about it."

Is there another version of the AGC in .zip format that worked only with 1.07 (hence not betas) ?

Trin

I'm just curious about the fact that you made it work...
