Eire looks like it is going to be fun to play... it will need some negative events as well some way down the track, to try and stop it becoming *too* rich :D

Are we going to give it (and the other colonisers) AI files? And what regions should we make them colonise?

Will be unavoidable, although for the major part colonising regions aren´t fixed, we need to guide the AI a bit..
 
Should Oporto own the Azores as they currently do, or should we let Eire discover and colonise them with their early explorer? (if they're so inclined, of course...)
 
I think the making Azores uncolonised options is the best.

Hope so, next on the list are general balancing, AI files and some missing majors..
 
in light of my attempted Eire-AAR-game I browsed the event file (hadn't done so earlier :eek:o ) and Eire seems to get no events whatsoever after 1689.... a bit of a long period IMHO.

It's harmfully usual with fantasy event mods that the first centuries have a lot of events, but then there aren't almost any.

Though Aberration isn't too old mod yet :)

Minimum would be to switch A and D - since AI won't use CBs any good and I think I would use option D myself most of the time - possibly option A occasionally, since pagans can be had w/o BB, but then I would have to have met them, know reasonably much about them and generally be in a position to be able to exploit them.

Deterministic - possibly.. good.. well, option D is still much better than the others, you even get stab enough for one pagan war which is about all you'd want anyway?
Good start however.
 
Couldn't events like this be in as colonial events instead and be smaller area specific? Then it would more logical that you have find the lands in question first to go on to conquer them and others than just Ireland could conquer them, if they find them.

Also that event you have above could instead be "Deciding on Colonial Policy of Eire" and then give options "Trade with these foreign lands" and "Conquer them!". Choosing Trade would boost trade tech, increase innovativiness and reduce mercantilism, while choosing Conquer would give random conquistador, reduce innovativiness and perhaps increase mercantilism. If you want, you could give Goods or Refinery manu from choosing Trade while giving Weapons manu from choosing Conquer.
 
Hmm, I wanted to have this event to encourage Eire to conquer offshore...

Gotta soften option D out a bit.

AI or human Eire?

EDIT: Human is always likely to go for at least any pagans he / she finds and likely also any rich / strategically valuable lands to be grabbed from low tech non-pagans too. Likelyhood for that is best increased with a good-at-war conquistador.

EDIT: Getting AI to hunt specific natives somewhere is best done by adding them into it's kill list.
