So I am on the next part of the campaign where you make a temple to light or a temple to dark. Everything goes well, even with non-stop dragon attacks and elemental attacks. Decided to use the dwarves to help with the dragons. I build the temple of dark and KAPLAM! A feud that would rival the Hatfields and McCaws. The temple of light folks are up in arms and appearing from nowhere, and by the dozens!
I lost the campaign, so I tried again. This time I decide on elves to quell the temple rebellion. Didn't get far since they are physically weak and very expensive. So, how did others set-up for this campaign? Did you go with elves or with dwarves. Did you decide on light or dark?

A bit more reading exposes that you can use both dwarves and elves at the same time. The way the manual reads, you would think that they spend more time beating up on each other than the tasks at hand. So, still elves aren't my favorites. Far too frail. Any mission where the elves truely shine?

to me the mission is easier if you build the temple to agrela, but destroying the spawned lairs fast ist the key either way.
I personally favor elves: as soon as they have a full set of healing potions(they are the only kind of heroes who can carry 10), they aren't much frailer than dwarves. and, as soon as they buy their first special attack, they can and stun opponents(in addition to the root ability they get at the start). Is there a mission there you don't need ranged stun effects and great firepower?
I often find it hard to get my dwarves leveled up and equipped because usually, my tier one heroes, who are much faster than dwarves, have dealt with any attack-flag before the dwarves get into reward range.

Last time I did this mission I cleared the map of all lairs and had a good core of high level heroes before I built the temple. Having a minor dragon fly in on a regular basis is a great leveling tool, a Wizard can hit level 4 in just one dragon fight so long as the dragon is targeting warriors :)

This way when the opposing temple "rebellion" happens your hight level heroes can manage it without much effort.

As for the "Dwaves vs. Elves" debate, I always get both of them. Sure the elves like to hit dwarves with their "root" arrow and the dwarves like to hit elves with their "stun" attack, they only seem to do that when there isn't a bigger threat in the area.

Having the "heal building" spell is just too nice for building instant Trading Posts and the elves (once they get potions as mentioned) are almost one-hero armies.
