When offering marriage, you select a region, if "Offer Marriage" is not shaded, you click on it and a list of people in your own court appear who are eligible for marriage.

If you have no people eligible for marriage in your court with someone in the other court then the marriage option is shaded.

Whenever the option is available (and I have people in my court that are single) I click on it and it gives me an empty list to select from my own court. The only exceptions to this are people that were born in my court that have reached maturity during the current session (ie. a save and restart will mean that they aren't seen), people whose spouses die (unless you save and restart before marrying them) and the ruler (be it count, duke or king) they are always visible for marriage.

This problem makes the game utterly unplayable as you can not arrange marriages. The game used to work on the original version, I installed the patch for 1.04a and this happened, I uninstalled and tried it on the original again but the problem remained! I also tried running on patch 1.03b and that had the same problem.

Any ideas or reasons?

It´s because at some patch after release marriage proposals were restricted to people of your dynasty only to not give an unfair advantage to the human player and to reduce micromanagement. The interface wasn´t updated while at it so that the game gives an empty list instead of greying out the option. Although a slight nuisance with the interface I in no way see the game to be unplayable due to this change, quite on the contrary really.

Hmm, well I think it is far more useful to be able to manage the marriages of your entire court - can't see how that would give an advantage to the human player - just let the AI do it aswell...

Besides which I did state that if I saved and came back, then I could no longer arrange for my own dynasty to be married either. Only if they lost their spouse or were born during the current session, otherwise the game seems to forget I'm allowed to marry them.

Surely the interface should be updated, I wouldn't be annoyed if I could just role back to the original version of the game which I enjoyed, but that isn't working. Total uninstall, followed by a reinstall from CD alone does not revert it - how I can get the original back?

It's far too much micromanagement to arrange marriages for your whole court and if it's possible, players will feel it's necessary and then get frusturated about it.

But will my own court get married at all? I've get some young wenches that just need to get some children, if only to expand my court with more good stat people.

I know I can let them marry some court/duke/king outside my court. But I'd rather keep them for myself.

You can marry them to a guy from your own dynasty, those might be scarce in the start but you´ll most likely have loads of them after a generation or two.
