More than once we have discussed the question, whether it´s possible to play beyond 1792, e.g. to give 'latecomers' like the Prussians some 'breathing space'. Whereas there´s no way to extend the game beyond 1792, there was the idea of setting the time BACK in the scenario files. However, we didn´t know whether it would have negative side effects (historical events etc.) when setting the starting date for a 'late' scenario back to say 1492.
Now on the German board someone posted an easy and safe solution:
Wait til almost 1792 and THEN set back the date in the savegame just a bit (say half a century). Because no major things happen in the last 50 years of the game, this should allow to play on without having to fear the negative side effects of setting the starting date of the 'Aufklärung' scenario back to 1492. :)

Suppose, You have played til 8th of May, 1790. Save.
Load the savegame with wordpad. You will find a section with lines:

globaldata = {
startdate = { year = 1790 month = may day = 8 }
enddate = { year = 1792 month = december day = 29

Just set startdate back to say 1742 and You will have 50 more years to go...
