Well you have always been able to edit the scenarios with a text editor.

Never had the scenario editor crash like the dickens. The only time it does crash is when I remove a CoT then quit. It crashes while quitting (but since I already saved, theres no problem)

I can't even get the scenario editor to work at all.

Did you dl the scen. editor patch for the SF version? Its on the downloads page and has a file or two that the scen. editor needs to run.

I downloaded the patch and tried to install it..it said EU2 wasnt installed!!! Is it really ABSOLOUTELY necessary to have DirectX v8.1???

Sounds like you have version problems! SF vs UBI ...

Even after downloading and installing the patch, I can't get the scenario editor to run at all. I keep getting an error that says "Failed to initialize DirectDraw. Try setting the color depth to 16 in your display settings." Now, I don't know exactly which color setting they mean by that, but I've tried it on 16-bit and it still doesn't work.

  • right click the desktop
  • select properties
  • go to settings
  • where it says "color quality" choose 16bit

if it is still not working, uninstall the game and reinstall it.

I think i have the answer. Im running xp and im not the admin. EU2 runs perfectly on 8.0, its just my computer says its not installed. When i reinstalled it it gave me an ENOURMOUS error message full of programming codes. There's nothing wrong with the colour, just won't recognize it
