Hello, I just bought the VV expansion via Impulse and installed it over the CD-based version of EU: Rome. However, every time I try to run the game it gets to the point where it is "Initializing Maplogic ..." and has a file exception error. I've tried multiple installs, to no avail. Verifying the installation of VV on Impulse tells me the installation is not correct, and prompts me to update. The error remains, however, and every time I update it prompts me to update again, to the same version, with no results. I've been fiddling with this all morning, and I am utterly stumped. I've checked the message boards and can't seem to find anybody else with the exact same problem.

My graphics drivers are up-to-date and I installed the runtime fix mentioned in other posts, but again the same problem remains.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I suggest you do a complete uninstall, and manually delete the game directories and the Impulse download. Then install Rome from the CD again into a new directory like c:\games\rome. Download a fresh copy of VV from Impulse, install it and make 100% sure it overwrites the Rome files in that new directory. Then apply 2.2

Thanks, I think we're all set. I did yet another full wipe and reinstall, but this time it put it in a different location and, before installing via Vae Victis I went in and made sure that the folder wasn't checked 'read only' anymore. Not sure what part of this plan worked, but it now verifies as 'installed correctly' and boots up just fine. Barring unforeseen complications, I should be fine. Thanks for your suggestion!
