Error Loading Game - Vista & Windowed

Hi all. Anyone have any ideas for the following problem?

I have loaded CK, DV and the latest beta patch. I have renamed the AVI folder. I put in the WINDOW command and load up a game and the game crashes shortly thereafter.

here's the error message i get:

unhandled exemption
0x775c7dfe

Do you also get the error when you don't use the WINDOW command ?

No i don't actually and the game loads just fine.

was hoping to get the windowed mode a working for some...work-related CKing

IIRC windowed mode is a user-made application and is not supported by Paradox. So you need to contact the make of this application.

oh i didn't realize that. just figured it was part of the game since its in the command line (i just added "Window" the shortcut path). Thanks!

just a follow up if anyone else runs into the problem and finds this thread...

I had to change the display settings to 16 bit color down from 36 and then the program ran fine in windowed mode.

I added WINDOW to the shortcut, changed the display setting to 16 bit color and still get "Fatal Error!" message which says:

***Unhandled Exception Detected!
Address: 0x0048C05
Please report! (more information in log file)

Edit: Ok, found the solution. I also needed to start it maximized (shortcut tab).
