Cannot create file .\config\world_names.csv.

HOI2 EDITOR ALERT! - read the first thread in this forum that is sticky'd at the top.

It is proven to be risky to use the editor that comes with HOI2 - has been known to corrupt not only savegames but mess up the whole install. Much better that you use one of the player made editors (check the mods forum - jamie has one I think) or just stick with notepad or notepad++.

Now, with that warning, as to your specific problem:

1. sounds like possibly the file is only read only so that you can't overwrite it - are you using Vista? Do you have full rights to file?

Hye Mate

Nah im using XP and i have no idea if i have full rights to the file? how would i check and change that??
Dont really care at thi smoment if it crashes the whole install as its not working properly for me anyway !!! :( boo hoo

With XP I can't think of a reason why you would not have authority to the files in the config directory. The game is closed (not running) when you try to edit? Could be that the file is tagged as 'read only'. To check that, find the file (use windows explorer to open up a browse window to the config folder) and right click on the file with the mouse, at the bottom of the options window there should be an option called 'properties' - click on that. Some where there should be an 'attributes' section that tells if the file is 'read only' or not. If it is read only and you do have authority to change it you should be able to uncheck the box for read only.
