I use 285.62 (so a new driver) with a GTX 550Ti, I haven't seen this problem yet, but I have to admit I test and play in window mode. So I don't think it's a general driver problem or simply this error didn't happen yet for me. So maybe retest in window mode?

I have tried this, too, and windowed mode offers no respite.

My graphics card is a GeForce GTS 450, and this problem did occur even with 247.something drivers, and those since (including 285.62).

I was using the latest drives, 285.62 and I go back to 260.99. I've being map editing for 2 hours and no freeze. Today and yesterday, so I believe the problem is solved.

Didn't even try the windowed mode.

I could go back to a newer version, 275.33 for example, but I choose to go back to the latest drivers that says notebook. I have GTX 260M. It's working well until now, I hope the performance on Call of Duty won't be affected.

Thanks for the support and suggestions eis_os.

260.99 doesn't seem to support my card, and 267 which is the oldest that seem to be possible to install doesn't solve anything at all.

I'm sure 267 has no problem, because that is old, and I was always keeping drivers up to date, and this freezing started recently.
So you probably have a combination of problems. Maybe drivers + windowed mod, or drivers + less mods, or drivers + lower graphic settings.

Might be worth reporting to nVidia so they can fix for next version. Because if this is happening now, CiM will be one of those games that doesn't run in newer computers. Its not even an old game now and this is already happening :(

I will also do it. More people better.

Are you sure? In this website, for GTS 450 I can download 260 and 266.58. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us

I know its not ideal to lower graphics drivers, since there are performance improvements in newer drivers, but that is the solution now.

Turns out that the problem is not the drivers at all.

It's a specific area of the map. If I go there, change cameras etc, it freezes. In other parts of the map I can work and no freeze at all.
The game was freezing a lot when I was working in that area, and I kept editing and trying solutions here. So when I moved to another part the game stopped freezing, right when I decided to go back on drivers.

Today I went to that area again and it freezed twice. I guess there are no solutions for that!

Can you post some information about that area? Maybe there is a certain mixture of buildings that make the game crash.
and, congradulations on your 1,000th post!

This is the area:

Specifically here. Here is where the freeze is guaranteed. But only in map editor mode, thanks the Lord.

Thanks, you are almost there too!

Are there any airport related buildings in this area?

No airports.

You're lucky. Mine freezes in game as well.

I do note that it seems to be required that one is doing something for it to freeze though. If I simply leave it running without moving around, it will not crash.

(There are a number of places on my map, with a population of 90,000, that placing a building upon will cause an immediate crash (often near rivers). Not sure if this has anything to do with it, as it crashes on other maps as well.)
