I have tried every fix to see what will work such as deleting all mods, verifying game files, deinstalling the game and reinstalling it after. The error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object [System.NullReferenceException]

Details:
No details" keeps popping up and doesnt seem to go away, once i try placing an airport.

If you use mods please check your mods against the list of broken mods, both the first tab and especially the tab named Patch 1.17.1.

If that doesn't help or you don't use mods, then please attach your output_log.txt (called player.log on Mac and Linux) for us to look at. Depending on your operating system the log can be found here:
Windows
<SteamFolder>\SteamApps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities_Data\output_log.txt
<Epic Games>\CitiesSkylines\Cities_Data\output_log.txt

Mac OS X
~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

Linux
~/.config/unity3d/Colossal Order/Cities: Skylines/Player.log

@Efferus.147 At least in your case the error is caused by trying to place an airport, which is an issue we're currently investigating.
