Can't save my game for some reason it tried to autosave and this message popped up. I save locally and not in the cloud, I also should have ore than enough space on my hard drive if not the save it's trying to make is bigger than the game itself... I also haven't renamed the save file at all and it has worked so far.

will upload both a picture of the error and the latest savefile...

Edit: Apparently it was just a one time occurance... it fixed it self after validating the game files in steam and restarting the game. so problem solved for now

Do you perhaps have 32bit Windows?

Okay, well let us know if this happens again.

On 32bit Windows the cause is not enough memory, as it restricts all apps to 2gb only.

It did happen once again today, didn't take a screenshot though. But it seems to work just to close the game and validate the files on steam to get around the problem temporarily. I'll let you know if it happens a third time.

Next time I'll also try to only restart the game and see if that is enough to get around the error.

How much memory do you have? Try exiting every other app you can before you start the same.

Which is enough, unless you are running so much other stuff as well the game can only get 2gb or less.

I'm getting the same error message. It happens part way through a game and continues (it doesn't fix itself) unless I restart. This is killing ironman - basically its as good as a crash. This didn't happen prior to the update (I've purchased HF)

You can see the questions I've asked above ... !

I'm running on a Mac with 8gb memory. I've got 2500 hours on CK2 under my belt with no issues. The save name file is the iron man auto and works some times. There is plenty of disk space (500 megs). This is caused by the update - everything was running fine until I updated. This is a stop playing CK2 issue - I get 30 mins to an hour in and this means a reset with a 6 month loss of game time. I've signed up to the forum for the first time today to report. Apologies for being curt - my post assumed that I had read and actioned the rest of the post

Since this thread is about Windows and you have Mac, a new one would have been a better idea! Anyway.

I have not come across this issue on my own iMac, not have I seen other reports on Mac here. Let's start by ascertaining you have a good installation:

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK2 or Documents CK2 locations, before installing again.

**File Locations on Mac OS X**
The executable and DLC folder are in Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Crusader Kings II/
On OS X 10.8.x and later, Apple have hidden the /Users/USER/Library/ folder. To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and type in ~/Library/ .
The user files (settings.txt, error logs, saved games, gfx, mods) are in /Users/USER/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II/ .

I did the above and it seemed to fix the issue for a while, but it has now reappeared - and yes, I did repeat the above advice. It seems to occur about 200 years or so into a new game, rather than from the start. Games with the issue continued to have the issue after I followed the advice above.

I don't know then, we're not seeing other such reports from Mac users.

This is only happening Ironman games, is it? DOes it matter if the saves are local or cloud? Compressed or not?

Do you have any antivirus on this Mac?
