Error writing save game

This just happened to me, and honestly I'm a bit freaked out.
It's an ironman game, with achievements and i really hope i won't lose it.

I'm using no mods, and have no clue what a forbidden character could even be?

Since it's ironman, if i close the game, would it still actually save my orogress?

This normally means the game has run out of available memory. If you have 32bit Windows that is the problem right there.

If you are not sure what you have, DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

You have 64bit Windows so that's not it. 8gb of memory is fine as long as it is not all used by other apps, do exit every other app you can, see if that helps.

How large are your saved game files?

Check with HP for an update to that video driver.


FYI the Snipping tool in Windows 10 is fine for taking screenshots, as is the f12 key in Steam.
