24 players? Interesting. But is it realistic?

Well, if Tsunami managed to do that, we could try now. And, in general, it could be a good idea to do a new Tsunami -since, if I am not mistaken, a lot of new players were not here when the monster-game was going.

That's true.
Well, I can host 14 players without trouble, never tried more. I guess someone with 10mbit could try 24 players.

But I have the impression that the troubles often are about one individual player not having a good line to the host and not with the bandwith of the host in general.

Mowers did his tsunami on a 768 kbit line, right?

The original Tsunami game was a long time ago... attempts has been made to resurrect the idea since then, but they all failed.

You are in a pessimistic mood, right?

Well the community can, of course, have changed since I left it... in any case, feel free to prove me wrong. :)
You GMed during a time when everyone was bitchy. Its really obvious why you got tired of the eu community :).

All,

Like Hive, I'm pretty cynical that this would work.

But Fraese proposed a fantasy scenario on the new map, with twelve players in Europe and twelve in Asia. Fantasia would be the easiest to do, but we could also build a mod with random leaders and monarchs and such if given a little time.

That's about the only way you'd get me into another Tsunami.

I think a Tsunami game would be great fun, and never having had the pleasure, I'd be eager to join in the fray.

Since some countries are hurt disproportionally by having more players (ie. OE with Mamelukes) I think it'd be best run as a fantasy game, where all countries start off more or less equally, in the same tech group, with 12 in Europe and 12 in Asia or something like that. The MP and tax values would be tailored for balance, not historicity, which has to be thrown out the window anyway in a 24 player game.

Totally random leaders, indeterminate historical paths, two dozen competitors... me like

If Eu3 is really hitting beta this summer, we should do this. It'd be a grand finale for Eu2, bringing the whole gang, new and old, together for one huge bash to celebrate this game.

*A single tear runs down fraese's cheek at the thought of such beauty*

Your idera fraese sounds very interesting. 2 great pole with a possibility of huge wars. What about "West vs. East"? Like a team work.

Anyway, great idea!

uh? what? eu3 hitting beta this summer? You're drunk or you really read something about it? :)

Personally I'd prefere to see a historical setting with Europe more thoroughly covered, especially with the new maps. We have 3-4 new viable German minors that could, and really should be played. Austria becomes overpowered now if it's allowed to gobble them up. We also have room for 1-2 more Italian minors. Savoy, Tuscany, Papal States are all viable. Scotland ought to be played as well.

That's not to say I think the east should be left alone. But I don't think we should start throwing players in Baluchistan, Myanmar and so forth. It'd take only six players to cover all the big countries there.

That's just my preference. I'll still join any tsunami-style game that actually gets going ;).

I think the identitydisguising idea is neat also.
