Guys this is literally a $600 game

I have been getting this now for 2 months. Some form of launcher incompetence or error

I have reinstalled, deleted the file (the launcher doesn't even run if I do this)

I should not have to put up this with crap

Do your job. This is as incapable as Paradox was 15 years ago. Fix the launcher

I fresh installed again and it CTDs. Brilliant. I also get long hourglass on the launcher.

This is not acceptable for a customer who has paid this much. Not impressed

No mods. And this message on mod menu

OK I reinstalled a 3rd time and can get vanilla running at least. However you must launch direct from the game files (if anyone else has this error). Bypass the launcher, it's broken

You should ask tech support for help. From these error messages it is very likely that something on your computer is preventing the launcher from accessing its files (mainly "Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/launcher-v2.sqlite", but probably others as well). The most common culprits are antiviruses and ransomware protection software. You could try the following:

• If you have Windows Defender(also called Microsoft Defender), add the launcher and eu4 to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list(here are instructions for that).
• If you have bitdefender, add the launcher and eu4 to the list of ransomware exceptions and "give it access" to "protected files".
• If you have avast, you have to add the launcher and eu4 to the allowed list in the ransomware shield

The launcher in this case is "C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.10.1/paradox launcher.exe". You may have some older launcher versions in the exception list already, but that doesn't help.

Eu4 is not important for this issue. What matters is that "C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.10.1/paradox launcher.exe" is in the exeception list. Did you add this as well?
