It's happened over and over again, on my old computer and on my new one, Win95 and WinME, EU version 1.00 and 1.09. After playing for some a few hours, the game abruptly stops running. It doesn't just freeze, it disappears, without any warning. No error message. If I restart a saved game that quits, it quits again.

I've just downloaded version 1.10 and am hoping this will fix the situation, but it will be awhile before I know. Family life will prevent my playing for any length of time for a while.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

First, see the running problems thread and post me your configuration.

Second, are you playing a specific scenario? If so, wich one is it?

Having the same problems.
I'm playing EU and suddenly i'm back to win98 desktop. No error messages or blue screens. If i reload a savegame i can play it just fine until it "chrashes" again.

With patch 1.10 it didn't solve this problem.

This is usually a driver or PC problem. Update your video and sound drivers to the latest from those vendors. Uninstall the game completely, defrag your disk and then reinstall with 1.10 patch.

Also if you have 64mb or Ram or less, now is a good time to consider upgraging to 128mb or better.

Okay, I did the defrag/reinstall with the 1.10 patch. The game let me play for about 6 hours before it quit on me again. This time, it not only dumped me back to my desktop, but also completely froze my computer.

I was playing the American Revolution scenario, but this happened to me on the fantasy scenario as well, on my old computer, so I don't think it is a scenario problem.

I find it unlikely I have outdated drivers becuase the computer is only 2 months old.

When you post here, in order to better help yourself we will need you complete configuration:
- Operating system: Windows Me
- CPU & speed: Pentium 1700MHz GenuineIntel ~1695 Mhz
- Memory 511 MB
- Free hard disk space on the drive EU is installed: 69 Ghz
- Video Card brand and model number 32MB NVIDIA GeForce2 MX with TV Out (Dell)
- Sound Card brand and model number: SB Live! 1024
- CD-ROM or DVD-ROM brand and model number (firmware if you know it could also be useful) D: Lite-On LTN486 48x Max; E:_NEC NR-7800A
- Ethernet card (network card) brand and model number: no idea, whatever comes with Dell Dimension 4300
- Mention that you read this thread before posting: I reckon I have :)

I have the same problem but it has just occured in the Grand campaigne scenario. the year is 1635 and the game just dies or kicks me back to my desktop.
I had no problems at all until I reached that year.

I have installed the 1.10 patch for the swedish version.

It happens sometimes with the grand campaign, but it seems to appear more with the Holland Crand Campaign scenario. I think it is a graphical problem, cos with the current videocard i have some other problems too.

My system:
-AMD 500 mHz cpu
-128 MB Mem
-Soundblaster Live
-NVIDIA Hercules Dynamite TNT
-CD-Rom: 52x
-free space on harddisk: +/- 5 GB

I have also got the latest drivers so that can't be the problem.

there are still a few CTDs left in patch 1.10 and it will crash on certain computers. On mine it never crashed. ;)

There ain't much you can do about it, except maybe, completely uninstalling EU and reinstalling it again (see the running problems thread). I know the IGC had mine crash, but without it, it runned perfectly.
