I recently installed EU2 which ive played for years before I uninstalled it and it has worked fine with new patches. So I install the game and then go to the to the forums here and attempt to get the 1.08 patch.

However, those were not availible so I went to another site which was posted here. I dont have WinZip so I had a friend unzip it and send it to me via AIM. So I double click and it goes into install and everything seems fine and I go to play and it it still version 1.00.

When I installed, it kept saying something about a read only file and if I wanted to click yes or no, I clicked yes and checked the box for me not to show the message again.

Please help, I love this game and want to play it desperately.

If you have WinXP you don't need winZip to unzip the files, and if you want Winzip go to Tucows and Download it for free.

That aside you need to select "yes to all" for the overwriting.

Alright, I uninstalled EU2 and searched "Europa" and "Universalis" to delete any files so it wouldnt think it was still on the computer.

I reinstall and even redownloaded the patch from your link and it automatically installed which never happened before. It didnt have a "Yes To All" option so I manually said yes to everything and it was completely installed.

So I go to play and it still doesnt recognize the patch.

What do you mean "it automatically installed" ?

Are you sure you did not run it directly from the internet?

First look at the sticky thread "Self help guide" Look at the 4th post and follow the manual uninstall directions.

Then Download the patch from the link I suppied, then do a fresh install from CD install to the default drive and directory, then run the patch.

I didnt choose the "Save to Disk" option if you mean that?

Well, you should; that's what Castellon is trying to say (among other things). Then you manually execute it to install it.

In that case you haven't fully followed the uninstall directions he pointed you to:

"First look at the sticky thread "Self help guide" Look at the 4th post and follow the manual uninstall directions".

The critical bit is removing all mention of the game from your registry, otherwise the patch installs to the wrong place.

I went to the Regegit and removed everything I could and I uninstalled the game.

Even if EU2 is not installed, I still have a "Paradox Entertainment" file when I go to Start and Programs. I deleted it from the regegit but all that goes away is everything inside. Its contents are something about 1.07 Readme and Scenario Editor to name the ones I remember.

Is there a specific place I should download the patch to on my hard drive?

Does not matter really where you DL the patch to.

How on earth did you get a 1.07 readme file if your CD version is 1.00 and the patch is 1.08 and you say it did not install anyway. And deleting registry files does not effect what is in the start menu in anyway.

Right-Click on the 1.07 readme file, select properties from the popup memu.
See where the path to that file sis and then look there to see if you have another install of EU2 already.

Did you clean out the install shield stuff as well?

What publisher version do you have, thier logo will be on the CD?
