Hm well yesterday I tried joining a test game to check out capabilites of our host but I runned into a problem.

When I try to join hosts game it says I don't have a right patch, but we both have the latest 21.april beta patch although he seems to have 21.april "TBZV" and I have 21.april "CHVU".
It doesn't make seanse since we applied the same beta patches on our games.

Does anyone know the sollution to this problem and what do "CHVU" or "TBZV" mean?

it's a checksum, in some way calculated from the way your files are- that you have a different checksum means that you have edited *some* core file.

have you:
-created new straits?
-created new events?
-created new monarchs, leaders?
- tweaked tech effects?

etc. etc.

TZBV is the standard version.. so if you can't find what you have changed, you can reinstall the game, patch 1.08 and the latest beta to get the correct version.

Ah thank you, it seems that 1.08 patch wasn't installed correctly so I reinstalled both 1.08 and 21.april and its TZBV now.

:)

I'm having a similiar problem. TZBV is what everyone else's comes out to be while mine says "RGOV" even though I've downloaded the exact same patch and I've down clean installs in an attempt to fix the problem. I am using the version of EU2 from the Strategy Six Pack that Paradox is selling but I'm not sure if that would make a difference.

Yes, it does.

Really? That's great :)

It's not my problem but a friend's, and I'd be more than happy to transfer the needed files.

Can you be more specific as to what has to be xferred over? I assume the db folder or something like that?

The best thing to do is just take your EU2 CD and install the game at his place ;) I don't know if that's legal, but you'll not feel bad about it as he already owns the game legally. If you can't do that since you are separated by the internet or something like that, I think the db folder would work... though I'm not entirely sure. You could check the dates and sizes of all important files and compare for differences.
I had a friend with this same problem as well, but we just used the first option :p

Thanks, Ozzeh. This will have to be an internet xfer of certain files, so I guess it will be a trial and error fix, but at least we now know more or less what to do. I'll report back with details if we manage to solve the issue this way.

You can circumvent that issue by requesting files from people who own the regular EU2... it takes some time but it's doable.
Do you know which specific files are different and what the differences are? If you have the six-pack and the plain EU2 files you should be able to compare.
