EU2 save conversion help needed

For years I have occasionally clicked to convert my saves to EU2 but it seems nothing happens. Is there some trick or prerequisite to make this converter work? Need to play to a certain year before conversion? Broken on newer OSes or do I need EU2 installed in a certain directory? Would love to understand why this thing seems to be nonfunctional.

By what i read i'm not sure the converter worked with the DV expansion.
There had been several user made converter mods requiring Java, but i have no idea how or if they work.

I can't help with that specific issue, but apparently there is a working converter from Deus Vult to EU3 (Divine Wind) :

I think Java converter IIRC you had to do it through command line, same as ck-prune (the one that cleaned saves from old characters)

Just hopped onto one CK1DV save I have, exported to EU2, tried EU2 GoG version and it all works fine.

So could be somethin in your end, not sure what though sadly

I have just acquired a new to me CD copy of CK Complete including Deus Vult, I will install this alongside EU2 on XP and see if it works with era-appropriate installations. I have only tried in Windows 7 and newer before. I’m not sure what version they want for EU2 if it matters, I know that the original CK would’ve been out during 1.08 in EU2 but I didn’t install 1.09 or newer in my main game.
