I grow weary of EU2. The armies don't come strong enough in battle, their navies are incompetent, they never invest in their infrastructure (tax, governors, judges)- is AGCEEP different? I want to play EU2 with some challenge.

It's 1602 in Spain. I have all of Spain, most of France, half of Italy, and tons of colonies abroad with little colonial competition and battles have been rather easy. Can I expect more challenge with AGCEEP?

Also,

Is AGCEEP historically accurate? And do you still get manpower the same way? I'm just worried because, EU2 has a land connection between England and France, and Gibraltar/N.Africa which allows you to get manpower with direct land connections. My land power right now is insane. (102! 30 of which came right after vassalizing Portugal oddly enough)

There is no doubt AGCEEP is far better/richer than Vanilla (you can't expect me to say the contrary... :) ).

First, both straits are removed in AGCEEP. More important, AI knows better how to make money with trade and spend it. Some ATP have been reworked for a player to avoid obvious hypertech in infrastructure too. Things are more accurate in AGCEEP and especially thousands of added events, but a major power like Spain is quite not challenging, if you mastered EU concepts, because it is a very easy country to play, unless you want to roleplay it. Try a less powerful country (a monoprovincial state for example...) and you will see what it means to struggle for your life.

If it is not sufficient, you can take a look at EP where AI is really tweaked to the max especially for DP sliders with morale and other bonuses. Idontlikeforms will answer better than I can on this subject.

Anyway, rules of the game are the same in all mods.

But can you still get the same manpower bonus with no land connection? That's part of the fun of going as Spain into the Middle East.

And yeah, I'd also love to hear more about EP. Knowing all of the rules and mathematical formulas, EP sounds pretty challenging. I'll try both and see.

No, this is a rule in EU2: no land connexion => no manpower bonus.

Make your choice.

I have no done no cheating, I'm tired of punishing myself when things get too easy, like with Portugal. I should just reward myself for now and enjoy being the biggest badass for now. For now I'm just going to enjoy my empire, and when I play again I'll try Europa Portugalis (if a tough nation) or AGCEEP if a smaller one.
