EU2 will NOT run on my Win XP Pro System

I loved the first EU, and just got the 2nd one today at EB. However, i install it and double click the icon. But ALL i get is this black screen. Absolutely NOTHING else. NO sound, music, cursor blinking, ANYTHING. So i ctrl-alt-del and cancel the (non responding) application. Then the bink video player starts up after i close the non responding app. it plays the intro thing and then it goes back to desktop. =( please help

AMD Athlon 1.3 ghz
512 mb DDR
Geforce 3
SB Live
Sony 52x CD-ROM
WINXP PRO

can anybody offer any advice? i really want to play this game

<sigh> cursor blinking seems to be a problem with the copy protection software SF is using. bad stuff

Ok, first, try to wait. Wait. Wait a little more. Not yet. Ok, wait for about 5-10 min., if the game doesn't start then close it. In EU1, I remember people had the problem and they had to wait for something like 3 minutes before the game would start.

HI

i reead an earlier post, i beleive it was by "simple girl" about bink being the culprit.

before you run the game either remove bink or rename your avi folder to something else

under Win 2000, you need administrator priviledges to run the game, could be the same with XP Pro.

I had the exact same problem you did and was running XP too. Renamed the avi file and it works great.
