I hope you'll win.

How many times should I vote to make you happy my dear Paradox?

PI is also nominated as best publisher.

Edit: This isn't an award. This is nothing more than a popularity contest. They could just as well have looked at sales numbers, before they gave away their "award". Pathetic.

So far the results look like this:

TWR2 as best strategy!

Edit2: Its also way to easy to manipulate the votes by voting multiple times.

Voted, but the award seems kinda stupid. Sn3ipen is right, TWR2 is definitely not a better game than anything Paradox has put out recently. You can easily rig this.

I'd be surprised if CA's 40% bigger budget didn't go towards hiring guys to mass vote and spew fanboy love for that disappointing piece of crap. Perhaps my disappointment was also fueled by my discovery of PI between Shogun II, and Rome II, but I think it was much more the deceptive, lying marketing campaign and POS release.

If you guys lose to Rome II, I don't even consider this award valid.

Rome 2 would have been an amazing game IMO, dont care what other say, but its unplayable after few turns, i have to wait very long time until turn passes.
edit: and i voted aswell.

Anybody knows why CoJ: Ghost.. emm.. Gunslinger is in the historical section :p. I've played it and it's everything else but historical.

Because there are idiots on this world. All kinds of horse piss games get awards yet the games which require a little bit of thinking and knowledge are shunned and called "nerdish".

Don't get me wrong, I quite enjoyed the latest X-com game. I don't like to think of myself as an unjustified Paradox fanboy, but they are my favourite games company for a number of reasons.

Simply put, Paradox have made some of the most enjoyable games I've ever played. Ever since I bought Europa Universalis II as a 13 year old, I've been hooked on Paradox games. It has indeed been quite a joy to see them turn into one of the major names of strategy gaming today.

One of the best things about them is that they seem to improve with each and every game. I've been playing Total War games for about the same amount of time that I have paradox games, and the improvement of quality with those isn't quite as consistent. Contrast EU4 and R2TW. I only had enough money to pre-order one game, and I went with the latter. Never again. While Rome 2's bugs disappointed me, as did many of the gameplay problems, I was quite simply blown away by EU4 when I bought it. I was expecting a re-hashed version of EU3, but I ended up playing was crammed full of lots of interesting and well-executed new features, there were almost noticeable bugs. It was simply the best game that I bought this year.

Apologies for the fan-boy gushing, but I thought I'd offer some justification as to why I genuinely believe EU4 is the best strategy game of the year, and why Paradox is the best publisher.

The fact that TW:R2 is winning is evidence that this contest means nothing. EUIV is objectively better seeing as how R2 is broken, and I've been playing Total War far longer than Paradox games (since Shogun 1). I suppose the general masses of people have a tendency to be aversive to thinking seeing as how EUIV is a thinking game.

Hard for ToG to compete with the likes of Skyrim and Far Cry though, those are AAA mainstream titles and will obviously be more popular.

As for Paradox as a publisher, I do know that Pdox is far better as a game developer when it comes to actually listenting to fans & the community (unfortunately not a common thing) and maintaining games up to date; far better than Ubisoft. But then again, Ubisoft is major and thus more renown and will thus win the popularity contest which isn't much based on merit.

TWR 2 nominated... i must say "LOL"
This broken game doesn't deserve to be here. Maybe after many more patchs he will (year 2014) or great mods, but not for now.
I hope EU 4 and CK2 Old gods will win this!

Worst release of 2013 should be X Rebirth or TRW2.

Congrats Paradox, EUIV scored #1 for Strategy and Historical, The Old Gods scored #1 for DLC/Expansion and Paradox Interactive scored #2 best developer, behind Ubisoft and ahead of Sony.
