Hi there, i have a problem when i play and want to exit to game menu it returns me to the windows desktop and then it loads up my web browser and returns me to the epic game store site and when i click on the EU 4 on the task bar all i get is a full screen title screen, with no menus etc.
Any help would be appreciated do i count my losses with the free version from epic and pay for it on steam ?

Its not a crash. When you ask to return to menu - the game restarts itself.

It is to make sure that the game state is reset correctly.
