Not really, I'm not playing as the character right? One of the design principles is basically that, and they keep reiterating that the characters aren't the main focus like in CK. You're playing as the nation, the flag. Not the character. It really should be visible at all times, you're spiritually playing as that dude after all.
You're playing as the ruler of whatever government you have, not as the "nation" (because no nations exist during this time without a government, most often centered around a monarch). You're not playing as a dynasty like in CK, but you're absolutely playing as whomever is in the portrait in the corner. Not really, I'm not playing as the character right? From Pavia. You're playing as the ruler of whatever government you have, not as the "nation" (because no nations exist during this time without a government). You're not playing as a dynasty like in CK, but you're absolutely playing as whomever is in the portrait in the corner.
As this is not CK, you're playing the country, not the ruler.
The ruler IS the country, that is how states were constituted during the middle ages. From Pavia.

You know it's been revealed that the game is euv, not ckiv, right? The ruler IS the country, that is how states were constituted during the middle ages.
You're playing as the spirit of the nation.
There's no such thing as "the spirit of the nation", you're playing as the ruler - just not the dynasty like in CK.You're playing as the spirit of the nation.
In CK you play as the dynasty, in EU you play as the ruler - simple as that. You know it's been revealed that the game is euv, not ckiv, right?
Meaning that
This looks really good imo. I hope devs note this one.Had to zoom it in to to make it clear
Also, since the mapmode icons are gone from the bottom middle, you could move the International Organizations icons there which fits in more imo.

The nation's flag should be in a supplemental position in relation to the ruler, and people who were complaining just didn't like the quality of the 3D-art.I don't know what to tell you, one of the earliest and most voiced UI complaints is the ruler being stuck in the space where the nation's flag/shield should be and always was.
Upper left, lower left - as long as it is on the screen at all times. You can argue for placing him in the lower left like in CK3 but with how the UI is now idk how well that would work.
I agree and this should be expanded to other games as well, I want Hitler's face on screen all the time when I'm playing as Germany in HoI4Upper left, lower left - as long as it is on the screen at all times.
They did not just complain because of the 3D-Element. Also it does make a difference where it is placed in the UI, so I wouldn't say that it's irrelevant at all.The nation's flag should be in a supplemental position in relation to the ruler, and people who were complaining just didn't like the quality of the 3D-art.

"They" didn't, people on the forums making suggestions for UI did (you can literally see the bad photoshop mash around the edges).Did they finally remove the ruler's portrait from the top left?
Yeah, at most materialized the player is the crown estate of the nation. Definitely not a particular person. Otherwise, a personal union would need to work differently. The current monarch is an annoying hindrance or nice bonus, but that is not me, the player. You're playing as the spirit of the nation.
