I got the same problem once. Maybee you can take the spanish leader file and coy and paste it under Spain in the save file. You should atleast get the once that haven't come yet, but you have loast loads of explorers already if you're mid 1500.

Btw, do you have vista?

No - I'm running the VP software Mac port. I did just get a random explorer - my first - in 1587. So I set up colonies in Delaware, Virginia, and Carolina...world dominance is just around the corner!

But I will try your idea about copying the file...I'm out of town Wed - Mon, though, so nothing moves quickly...

ok, finally finished this Spain game; I really ended up steamrollering, but that's because i have it set to easy...and even though I never got a single explorer (I did get ~5 conquistadores), I still have the vast bulk of colonies. To make it more interesting, I pretty much 'Created Vassal' for anyone where there was a choice - so I freed Brazil, the USA, Sicily, Louisiana, Peru, etc. etc.

Now - I want to see abotu moving the game to Ricky!

...

Any ideas?

Guys, can anyone tell me how to force-convert a nation?
I read something about it, when you have at least +50 warscore, you can force-convert a nation, but how? where's the button for that? :p
Get Warscore. Offer peace. Make sure, that you offer them a separate peace (separate for them, at least: For that, in the peace-window, click at the "As leader of an alliance" button). Then, you can force-convert other nations (it's the second option in the peace-offer-menu, just below the vassalization-button.
But: Only sunni/shiite, and catholic/protestant/reformed countries can forceconvert each other. Except that everyone can convert pagans, of course.

Thanks you very much...
I always play with Orthodox countries, and haven't seen that button, so I thought I was doing something wrong :D

When is this desirable?

For example, if you want to convert the world. There may be other reasons: You may play a spaniard in a MP game. Maybe, you're too weak to hold whole West Afrika against the ottomans. But you can convert Benin to christianity to make it much harder for the ottomans to conquer that lands.

Or if you play a non-european nations and don'nt get alle those provinces for free: Maybe you want to convert the pagans first. There may be some good reasons, as you see. ;)
But, of course: Usually you'll want to annex those pagans. :D
