EUII not starting

Had not played the game for a long time. Started the game some evening ago. Tried the campaigne with Denmark - all well but boring. Shut down the computer for the night. Next morning the game did not start. It went through the opening sequences with the welcome etc up til the frame with four kings and a meter for showing the initiation of various stuff just before the main menue. There it just stopped. No initiation whatsoever.

The CD had been in the CD station and not touched. Nothing had changed from the previous day.

I have tried everything:

1. Checking the hard disk and defragmenting it

2. Repairing the game and removing it and installed it anew

3. Starting it without any patches and with the latest patch

No matter what I do the game comes to exactly the same spot - stopping without any initiation.

Help!

Probably you should try Castellon's standard procedure:

1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
4) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-3.
