In my current (1.18) Najd game, I'm at war with QQ. AI Persia (Neutral towards me) is renting (for free) out a full stack of condottieri to me, which is the majority of their army. Not long after I declared war, the Timurids (allied to me, but haven't called me in to their war) declared war on Persia, but Persia haven't recalled their condottieri and are of course getting trashed in their own war. Is this intended, or a bug?

They can't recall them for the first 18 months.

Would it be crazy of me to disinherit a 3-2-3 heir?

I am Ming, my heir is 16 years younger than my Emperor and he has a strong claim. I would really like an heir with better Admin/Diplo stats (I'd prefer 4-3-1) but it is risky because I could get a worse roll and/or Weak Claim, which might cause Mandate of Heaven Lost.

What is the mathematically correct play here? I feel I sometimes disregard Prestige because although the bonuses are nice, I seem to get a lot of events to increase it anyway. (Currently my Prestige is nearly 50, and that's after I disinherited my game-start 1-1-2 heir)

Yes. Especially when that's 3-2-3 with a strong claim and you're playing Ming.

When you spawn Colonialism in your own country, you get a bonus. I think it was 100 MPs of each category and something else... I clicked that button too quickly... What was that something else? Prestige?

Daily reminder that a lot of your questions can be answered on your own by starting up a game and replaying the conditions and watching the result (this is not aimed at anyone in particular)

I've been considering a Netherlands game for a long time, I wanna go for the achivements and I also want to pwn so I will probably go as Holland. I'll want dominance of both the English Channel and the Lübeck trade nodes. Holland is in the HRE and I'll need a lot of HRE land; when is it worth forming the Netherlands? My question is: How do I deal with the HRE in a Holland -> Netherlands game?
I see three options:
1) Form Netherlands as soon as possible - leaving the HRE - and fight the emperor for the rest of the area.
2) Delay forming of Netherlands until the trade nodes are conquered
3) Stay as an OPM until I am an elector, bypassing the problem but resulting in a slower start

There are two 'best' (in my opinion) ways since becoming an elector is such a crapshoot. The first one you stated in your option number two. The second one is to just simply become the emperor and then form the Netherlands. That is probably the easiest way to stay in the HRE and form the Netherlands. I would go with the second one since that allows you the option to expand into Lubeck node later on for that sweet trade and you can always leave later if you really want to. You don't need to keep the Emperorship after you form the Netherlands and make sure you add your capital back in afterwards if you don't want to stay a monarchy(<3 Republics).

Have there been any changes to how AE is calculated in 1.19? I don't think so because nothing is mentioned in the patch notes, but I still feel I have to ask because somehow I racked up 200 AE with the Ottomans

From the patch notes:
- Screens that list a value for "base aggressive expansion" will now list the value of the highest AE from that action instead.
AE has not gone up, it is just displayed more confusingly.

Playing as Iroquois. Wanted to switch to either Protestant or Reformed, but haven't gotten the event for it, and its been a few decade or so since I reformed my government. Only thing I can possibly think of why I haven't gotten the event is because I've got Full Religious ideas. Do I just need to wait long, or do I need to switch National ideas to something like Humanist?

It's all different now. Pagans need to own a province with a non-pagan religion. I believe being next to such a province also works. There will be a new religious conversion decision in your decision list but it has other requirements like minimum stability.

Hey guys.
Playing as Brandenburg, I'm allied to the emperor (Austria) and recently switched to Protestant. Now I got this event where you either chose to take a -400 relationship hit with the emperor or one of your provinces converts back to catholicism.
Is this a recurring event that converts my lands until I take that huge penalty with the emperor or just one time? Can I reconvert the province?

Is anyone else seeing the AI use the "enforce peace" option vastly more in 1.19 than in previous versions? I can't see it anywhere in the patch notes, but I've seen it three times thus far in about 60 years of game time, whereas I can't recall ever having had it used against me in over 900 years of previous play. Actual real change, or just weird coincidence?

For a long time, the AI was not using certain diplo actions like calling crusade and claiming throne and, yes, enforce peace.

Now they do, so it's definitely going to be noticeable.

Question:

As France I am the target of a coalition comprising of 2-3 minor HRE members, Austria the Emperor and Aragon.

I am allied with Castile and they started a conquest war against Aragon and they are calling me to arms. If I accept does this become a Coalition war and if so will it call in my other allies as some kind of defensive call to arms? In expectation of a big fight with Austria I allied Venice and Poland and they might be a good deterrance.

no, it won't, as you didn't declare and you aren't war leader.

hence, you can declare on Austria with impunity, while NOT helping Castile in that war of theirs.

Defending your ally does not trigger the coalition war. The only ways a coalition war starts are by either by you declaring war on a coalition member (or making one a co-belligerent), or by a coalition member declaring a punitive war on you.
