Hi, when I want to play the game, the launcher always show this: "Access Error to Game data: We don't have read/write access to the directory with game data".

I have tried adding exceptions to my Windows Security app (as suggested on similar threads) and running Steam as administrator. Nothing happens.

For addtional information, when I opened the Documents folder properties, it showed this:

My Documents folder is attached to my OneDrive account. Is the problem caused by this?

I never experienced any problem like this the last time I played (few months ago). However, I still can play the game, but can't save it unless choosing save to cloud option.

Thanks.

Probably, yes. Did you actively want your user documents stored on MS's servers rather than locally?

Is One Driver actually running and syncing successfully?

While we have had issues with OneDrive in the past, as long as your launche ris up to date (2021.9) I would have thought it would work now.

What antivirus app do you use?

I use only Windows Defender.

Update: I tried to run eu4.exe directly from the game folder as administrator. It worked and I can save my game normally. However, the launcher didn't run and the game was automatically started instead. I think that could be a temporary solution, since I don't play with mods (so no need for launcher atm).

It is working as designed that running eu4.exe doesn't run the launcher, since that is a separate application that can only be run from Steam.

What if you set it to run as Windows Admin all the time, then run the game from Steam?

Exit the Steam app entirely, then run steam.exe as the WIndows Admin user (just as you did with eu4.exe before). Then run the game from the PLAY button in Steam.

What happens?

I will assume this is still a problem accessing OneDrive, rather than say an antivirus app getting in the way (which would be the cause if OneDrive was not involved).

OneDrive is active and all files successfully synced (with a green tick in File Explorer)?

What launcher version do you see? Current is 2021.9

Actually it should be 2021.10 now ! Is it?
