Europe #2 PBEM/AAR - Players/Writers wanted
I am organizing my third and final (at least until another finishes) Play-by-email game. I hope to use the 1492 Age of Exploration scenario.
This will be an AAR game however, and I would hope that all members would contribute regularly to the AAR. Thus if you sign up, please bear this in mind. In the AAR we would discuss various matters of state, give accounts of our turns, forge alliances, etc., hopefully in a poetic pseudo-roleplaying way. It is more time intensive, obviously, but I have also found it is much more engaging this way.
If one wishes to see an example of one that was started, this was the first game played. It was, as first attempts go, rough around the edges:

Particular Game Twists:
1. European Countries Only. Turkey, North Africa, Muscowy, inclusive. [the fun really comes in when you have mutual borders, and close proximity, it seems]
2. Editable AI. [If you want to edit your AI it is all quite easy. Any questions, feel free to ask.]
Maybe #3, Out of game player deals, with a third party editing save game files to work out the deal. Trade and buy provinces with other human players (I have given this some thought though - this does not include sales of armies (there are many ways to exploit this, such as selling russian infantry to england) - but it can include buying out of game diplomacy. So France can buy Spain's friendship by ceding Rousillon in the savegame-But!-Spain can still stab France in the back once the game resumes.
If we change diplomacy in game, it will have to be done on the basis of something that actually could happen in game (no tearing up old alliances, austria having a royal marriage with turkey, etc). There will be a cost of one diplomat per side.
We are using #3 in a couple other games, so I will see how this works out. I am still getting used to editing savegames myself.
Settings:
Difficulty: Hard
AI Aggressiveness: Normal
Forced Annexation: On
Fog of War: on
Dynamic Missions: off
Base Victory Points: On
Rules:
1. Max 5 year turn.
2. Min 2/Max 4 players.
3. 72 hours to complete your turn (and hopefully write your account). If you can't make a turn, the ai will take over until you can make up your next turn.
4. NO CHEATING OR EDITING OF SAVE GAMES. NO RELOADING YOUR TURN. NO EXPLOITING GAME LOOPHOLES... Please play fair, its the only way this game is any fun. Including watching your country get ripped apart
Finally, I figure this will take a bit before players are found. Since 1.05 is almost out, maybe we will wait for its release.
Of course, I am also open to suggestions, criticism, comments, amendments, and the like!
