With the untimely end of the last campaign due to the arrival of the new patch, We should start anew. Before we start setting up house rules let us decide what scenario to play and who will play:
As I see it we have 4 options:

1938 Original
1939 Edited (DEG Scenario)
1939 Original (IMO a bad idea)
1941 Original

Im much for the 1938 Campaign having looked it over it looks interesting and relatively well balanced. It can also at a later stage be edited with events and such to make it even better. Quick action (1year exactly) without age long pauses at the onset of the game (people can rearrange units and fleets while playing). We could possibly kick up the german army to make it a few steps more proffesional if we want to make it easier for the Axis (probably a good idea IMO), and also add an event were Germany gets a few Panzer divisions upon annexing Czechoslovakia (IRL 1/3 of German panzer forces at the start of the war were Czech).

Anyways people cast your votes, new players are also welcome, once we have decided on a Scenario I will edit this post to include rule times, and so on. Let's shoot for starting tonight!

The 1938 scenario sounds quite interesting, we might have to do some balancing issues either before the game starts or afterwards (via events or other ways).

Since I am leaving for the USA shortly I think it unnecessary for me to start the campaign, since I won't be able to finish it. I'll take a look at this thread once in a while though, giving some input on house rules and other stuff.

I would like to join in, could make it 20.00 CEST this evening.

I'm open to any scenario (ideally 36, but I guess I'm alone in that one), but ideally would like to stick to vanilla campaigns. The patch turned many things upside down, and I think it's better to test these changes before deciding to give the Axis an easy ride.

In the 41 I would like to play Germany or SU, in 36, Japan or Germany. For the other scenarios, I'm open to anything.

The End of Czechoslovakia event already gives several of the Czech units to Germany to represent this. Slovakia gets all the other Czech units which seems excessive but I was unable to get this changed in 1.2 in time. Anyway, currently the Axis get too much out of Czechoslovakia rather than too little. Like Cyril says, you should try what's there as standard before rushing to change it.

Germany usually gets a unit or 3 but they hardly increase their Panzerforce with 50% like IRL. Besides, with the extreme costs for upgrades with the new patch Germany is in a rather sore position as it is. Mind here, I am going to be playing France so I'm not trying to make things easier for me or anything.

I assume the game won't be starting today at 18.00 CET?
I'll think about it over the weekend. If possible I would like to either play some nation co-op or take control of a minor.

I still vote for 1939, DEG or normal. Adding another year to the waiting of the USSR and the US before entering the war seems unneccessary imo.

I would like the USSR.

Germany has 7 panzer divisions in 1938. To me this seems unhistorically high with or without czech divisions.

6 players is the minimum to start anew. We could start later than 18.00 CET if that would facilitate for people.

Unfortunately I'm not sure if I'll be able to commit to playing on Thursday nights in the middle long future. Therefore I could play a doomed country with Nationalist China being first choice. I could play tonight, but I suppose it's doubtful whether we will given the amount of people that have stated interest so far.

Well, I guess tonights off then  .

Hope we get a group and rules decided, and date and times. If Herodotus can't make it on thursday, perhaps we can reschedule it to another day?

Four of them are the 1st - 4th light divisions which subsequently became the 6th - 9th Panzer divisions. They start as the lowest level of light armour and so will take time to upgrade to the higher levels. In this way, the Germans start with a mix of Pz I and Pz II units and this feels just right to me.

Sounds reasonable to me. Just didn't know where they came from.

any chance of this game going off thursday? I'm available.

I could more or less copy/paste Friedl's post. I could play tonight, any country that will be necessary to get the game going, but starting next week I will not be available as often as I would like (and probably the other players) to claim a regular spot. Unfortunately I don't see a queue of players lining up to start DEG 4 tonight, so I suppose things don't look too good.

That's a shame. Thursdays are the best evening for me to play although 1.2 looks a bit rough around the edges to play. (Maybe this is the reason so few players show interest in starting a new campaign?) As I see it we have 2 alternativs, in the case we get enough players:

1. Start a new 1.2 campaign

2. Make a separate 1.1 installation and continue the DEG3 campaign.

Anyway I will show up tonight and see how many people are there. Let's say around 19.00 CET.

I'll be happy to join, but as Friedl, will be away next Thursday. My ideal situation will be starting tonight, and skip next weeks session to allow Friedl and me to do without subs.
