Hi,
I wonder how the grand campaign will play out. What I mean is will it be more like EU3 where we basically don't have historical events that model specific crisises but basically can do what we want. Or more like HOI3 where we have events and decisions that that let us start specific operations and wars under certain circumstances and in a specific time frame? or something different? I hope you get what I mean.

I hope its a mix of both, if you meet certain requipements you may choose the decisions, but its only an option. Wll be interesting to see what the developers go with. Either way should be interesting!

EU=CK=Vickie are hundreds of years time span in their grand campaigns - lots of time for a player to mold events and change history in huge ways. In those games you can take a mid-power and make a major out of them with good planning and some luck.

HoI3 is about 10 years (1936 to 1946) which is more along the lines of the Nap Campaigns so I would guess there would be similar events and AI triggers (building on previous decisions) to push the game along a path of French war and expansion. It is Napoleans Campaigns and not Napoleans Gardening Tips. Warfare is required. The reason I say that is still, after 3 expansions and all this time, we still get a few sandboxers who whine about how HoI3 is hard wired for confiict between Germany and the UK. HoI3 is a strategic wargame and I hope NAP2 will be too. If Germany does not start the war, what is the purpose of the game? Same with France and Napolean - if they do not campaign, what is the purpose?

But it would be within fair bounds not to force the French player to occupy Spain or attempt the fatal march to Moscow depending on the series of choices leading up to those parts of the campaign.

Events and triggers will keep the game moving toward conflict.

I see there being a higher chance for decisions than events.

I hope it will be filled with events and depth.

I would like to see battle events maybe so thing that pauses the battle and based on what you decide it can effect the battle outcome.

SAS - Highly Agree that it would be good to allow some method to inject decisions into the battle matrix

When to commit reserves, When to send in the Guard ...

yes, very good idea
/*** EDIT
oh well - check out the gamertrailers video links. Some good news, but looks like no influence or choices once the battle starts. Still the demos look encouraging so far.

Don't care much for the shooty-shooty map soldiers, but the battle display has potential.

i think johan said the advantage of a 3d engine over the old AGE3 engine was it would be able to run faster on modern pc's. so that for me is one of the major changes worth investing time and money into.

And multicore support.
