This has been driving me up a wall.

Whenever I try to start HoI2 or MDS II I get this error immediately, but for some reason it does not seem to effect Doomsday. I have HoI2 v 1.0.0.1 and no mods installed (except MDS II, as previously mentioned, but it has its own folder and the error was present before installation.)

Has this happened to anyone else, and, if so, is there a fix?

(Also, before buying Doomsday HoI2 worked without error.)

This happened for me when I was playing with the files in Armageddon, After I sent everything back to normal ( I had back ups ) I got the problem that the TC has.

What folders are your HoI2 and Doomsday installed in? Have you installed any patches for either one? "1.0.0.1" is not the version of HoI2; the version shown in the hoi2.exe file properties is meaningless. You can only tell the game version by what is shown on the main menu or by comparing the filesize/datestamp of the hoi2.exe file.

If you installed Doomsday over the HoI2 folder then HoI2 is gone and would need to be reinstalled.

The basic meaning of this error message is that the hoi2.exe can't find a required .csv file (called an "Excel file" by default in Windows). Usually it means someone installed a patch into a folder and is trying to run it without the actual game being installed in that folder.

So, basically, I just delete everything that wasn't in the original installation and it should work fine?

No, the error message means something is missing so deleting something won't fix it. Again, how exactly have you installed the game? Did you install HoI2 and DD in separate folders? Installed any patches? Did you make sure you installed any patches in the correct folder (don't trust the default)? Make sure you don't confuse HoI2 patches with DD or Armageddon patches that have the same version numbers.

I installed HOI2, DD and Arg in separate folders within the Paradox Interactive folder. As for patches, I havn't patch any of the of the three games.

I think you will probably need to re-install Arma. Does it specify exactly what file is not found? Have you looked for that file? Also note that if you're running Windows Vista with UAC that can cause problems with modding. Install the games outside of Program Files (e.g. C:\Games) to avoid UAC issues.

Ok I uninstalled Arma. but i'll re-install it tonight. And for you second question, no, it just said a file could not be found.
