Excommunicating the excommunicated

In my game of king of Ireland one of my vassal duchess is excommunicated nothing odd there until I check my diplomatic options for her and I could request her to be excommunicated when she is excommunicated. I think that should not be possible as she already is excommunicated.

Yeah I did save it but I should clarify that the option to excommunicate was in the diplo options but if I chose it the send button was greyed out. Don't know if thats WAD but its odd that you could even chose the option when the other person is excommunicated.
