Greetings all,

I don't often post as mainly play single player but wanted to ask if there is ever the possibility of an expanded (or more expansive) campaign mode in the pipeline for Steel Division down the road?

The one(s) for the Wargame series seemed to work nicely and the idea of brigade/battlegroup sized units in Operations or larger battles would fit remarkably well I feel also in WW2. The current single player campaigns (although very good) are just a 'series' of linked battles which although nice obviously have no strategic layer and this game is crying out for more immersion and variety to take our favourite divisions through the Normandy experience.

Anyhow, I really love the game but this would take it to another level particularly for us more devoted to the single-player mode - not sure I am good enough yet (or quick enough) for multi-player but enjoy watching those of you who post replays, so please keep doing that too - awesome to see.

Thanks again and keep tanking,

David

For me personally it was the 2 second fail of paradox. I did preorder the game. But Wargame completly from eugen. had a decent campaign in single player and you could play hours especilly with the dlc/add ons. Almost a lot for fee. Now they adopt the more DLC metality from paradox a la CKII and EuIV. I have both too. But that game is realy expensive it is almost old but too much dlc so it never be cheap, yes it will be cheap if no pc it can play because it is outdated for a OS. SD44 i played to less for so expensive game in presale. Hoi IV the same, the did had airborne landing but only 1000 km and no Supllies. Here you have airborne, but it is regular inf no like wargame, dynamic en fast unit which if you played well sneaky coould drop every were on the map. Yes i do understand multiplayer is a diffrent aspect but only say a game is almost only for multiplayer needs a warning when buying. Of course in beta test/preorder they did for sure not place the campaing mission in the beta test so you know it was bad design and almost a game not for multiplayer.
Yes i now other say you could play skirmish, campaing is nicer to have a sort of storry and for more some more tactical layer. That is for sure i miss. ONly choices you can make is the deck and a real big difference i never saw. Wargame RD the made for short time the Jews OP with maglevRecon team. So it was worth to buy but here for a few decks and so much money and no real single player , disappointed.

Thank you all for your really helpful replies. I am disappointed to hear that Eugen have no plans for a dynamic campaign system as it would allow for airborne/behind lines divisions and armour (eg break-through moves) to really shine and I'm sure if moddable would give a whole new dimension given the talented people out there as Protosszoker says.

Well here's to hoping and perhaps I will try multi-player with the new DLC on the horizon and thanks again chaps!!

I actually didn't enjoy the campaign. Not because it was linear vs dynamic, but IMO most missions were just badly designed horde mode with time limitation.

Second mission in Scottish campaign for example puts you against a charging Firefly accompanied by 3-4 250/8s right from the start. After the recent change, which nerfed AT guns significantly, this is almost impossible to deal with a mixed battlegroup. It forces you to restart the mission and start with at least 3 AT guns on that particular flank. I enjoy difficulty and challenge in games, but player shouldn't be forced to restart the mission only because some scripted gimmick. It's frustrating and not fun.

There is too much history lessons in here and too little interesting gameplay and narrative lines like "oh my God! It's the King Tiger!" sound just pathetic and totally break the immersion.
