Changes in v0.6.0
This next update is in Central America, including flags for the union itself and some of its successor states.
CENTRAL AMERICA
1. If you manage to keep Central America alive all the way until 1842, you get the 1842 proposal for the Federal flag.
2. Likewise for 1851...
3. ...and 1896.
4. There's a new ahistorical monarchy flag with the colonial arms of Guatemala.
5. The communist flag has been changed to a red flag with five golden mountains and stars.
6. The colonial ensign now has a round emblem wihout any text that specifies like "Republic" or anything like that.
GUATEMALA
1. The 1871 flag of Guatemala with vertical stripes is now used for Republics.
2. The 1838 flag is now used for Oligarchies
3. ...Until 1843, when the coat of arms changes.
4. The "split" 1851 flag is now used exclusively for dictatorships. It also has a coat of arms added to it.
5. The 1858 flag, which was previously only used for a Spanish puppet can now appear while Guatemala is independent. Since the design of the flag represented the influence of the Catholic Church, it triggers when the country is a theocracy or a dictatorship with the Devout IG in government.
6. Monarchies get a new red-white-yellow tricolour based on the left half of the 1851 flag, with the colonial arms of Guatemala in the middle.
7. The colonial arms also appear on the new colonial ensign.
8. If Belgium puppets Guatemala, the country uses a flag flown by the Belgian colony in Santo Tomás. This is an extremely obscure one, but the beehive asset was already in the game so it was a quick add.
9. Communist Guatemala gets a flag with the emblem of the Guatemalan Party of Labour in the middle.
LOS ALTOS
1. The releasable state of Los Altos now has its proper historical flag rather than a randomly generated one.
2. It also gets a colonial ensign with the same coat of arms.
NICARAGUA
1. The default Nicaraguan flag is now a more accurate darker blue.
2. The gold-white-nacre tricolour from 1854 is now used as the oligarchy flag. "Nacre", or mother of pearl, was usually pale red or pink on flags.
3. An ahistorical flag with the same colour scheme is used for monarchies. The coat of arms is loosely derived from the arms of the city of León.
4. William Walker's flag is used when Nicaragua is an American puppet.
5. The red and black Sandinista flag is used for communist states.
6. The colonial ensign now uses the arms from the 1854 flag.
COSTA RICA
1. A bunch of Costa Rica's early flags are now in the game. The 1838 flag is now the starting flag for a Republic
2. The 1842 flag is the starting flag for an Oligarchy
3. The 1840 flag is the starting flag for a Dictatorship
4. The 1824 flag is used when Costa Rica is a puppet of Central America.
5. The revolutionary blue-gold-blue tricolour from the 1820s is used for Monarchies.
6. The modern Costa Rican flag was designed to show support for the ideals of the 1848 Revolution in France. To reflect that, the flag now only appears after the Springtime of Nations event chain starts anywhere in the world. After that point, Republics and Oligarchies get the plain flag from base game, and Dictatorships get the state flag with the coat of arms.
7. The state flag also updates in 1906.
8. The torch emblem of the People's Vanguard Party is used for communist states.
9. This proposed cross flag from 1845 is used for Theocracies, or if Costa Rica is an American puppet
10. The red six-pointed star from 1853 is now used for revolutionary or secessionist movements.
Next update will probably be a small check after 1.1 to make sure everything's still working properly. I know Paradox is adding more dynamic flags to Italy so I want to make sure mine work well with the new system.
