I actually look forward to the expansion. The core game is about setting up the first colony on Mars and managing it to self-sufficiency.
The Expansion adds the second, third, fourth, fifth and so on, and explores how those colonies interact with each other. Especially as they are not fou8nded by the same country or organization.
In my opinion, it would make sense that the colonies at some point detach themselves from their sponsors, realizing that they have more in common with each other than with their respective sponsors on earth, and relying on each other rather than earth. But before that, the sponsors on earth will, of course, have demands to their colonies.

I think there is a misunderstanding about the season pass and the DLC.
They said Season pass will cover two expansions and two content packs. After that, they said content packs would be free, but season pass holders would still get something for their money.
The free DLC that added a bunch of mysteries was a content pack, was going to be paid, but that changed.
So, if I understand this correctly, we are at 2/4 not at 3/4. There will be another free content pack and another expansion with small bonus DLC that season pass holders will get.
We will see.

Things future Expansions could (In my opinion should) add:
Trains as a mass transit system to allow colonists to reach far away domes as a mid to late game alternative to passages which have a very short range.
Livestock farms. Cows, Pigs, Chicken and such to produce Food Vegans will refuse to eat and/or get sick if they do. Also: Pets.
Proper Tourism. Like having a way to attract tourists and profit from them. Having people spend their holidays on Mars.
Martian Culture that develops over time and is influenced by different things. Also: A way to influence Martian Society more. So the Colony could resemble what you believe in, rather than it being some vague utopian communism that doesn't allow for personal freedom nor would it work IRL.
Children to actually look like children instead of like people in their early 20s or late teens, gluttons and pregnant women to have a belly and such things.
Expanded renegades system and something else, maybe demonstrations or panicking colonists, that make the investments of security stations worthwhile, even in well-functioning colonies. (I have the same rule that makes renegades spawn randomly and steal more activated almost everywhere and I don't really notice a difference, other than that I have some renegades according to the statistics and a notification every now and then that some amount of resources I have plenty of have been stolen.)

I was basing my claim that these DLCs count for 3/4 parts of the season pass on this tweet: https://twitter.com/Surviving_Mars/status/1047881836691640320

Hello, devs!

For those of us having the First Colony Edition, will it be mandatory to install this expansion? or can we choose if we prefer one that appears later instead of these contents?

I ask this because I would particularly prefer another type of DLC beyond those that include musical themes or analogous issues.

Thank you.

ps/ Moreover, I'm agree with other users in regards to "consuming" a 75% of a $40 season pass with this contents is maybe a bit too much. But... That's the risk of paying in advance.

Edit: It is said out there that the original expansion included everything, but that it was later divided for convenience in what is now being sold as an expansion and the two additional contents. Is there any truth in that?

I suspect that what might be happening is that they are charging less for the dlcs than they initially intended because of the mixed reviews they got on steam. As a result the season pass starts to look like bad value, which was priced at the projected cost of the dlcs, not the actual cost. If I'm right about this then it seems to me that they should include an extra paid dlc in the season pass (perhaps just a content pack rather than a full on expansion), to make up for the difference between the projected and actual cost of dlcs.

I doubt it's technically possible on platforms like Steam, so my guess is no.

They are aware of the season pass price and it will get the money's worth: https://twitter.com/Surviving_Mars/status/1048524895003598848

Not sure where you get that idea from. They probably discussed a lot of possible scenarios how to bundle the content. That expansion and cosmetic/music are different DLCs is pretty normal for Paradox as people can decide whether they want to spend money on cosmetic items or music (instead of having to pay for one big DLC with everything). Skins and music being separate DLCs seems reasonable to me, cause people might want one without the other. Granularity allows people to chose what they want without forcing everyone to pay for everything.

I'm very excited for the upcoming DLC; after seeing the direction they're going and with SM being published by Paradox I'm sure they'll do right by everyone who buys the season pass (including me, soon. No offense, but the DLC under Kalypso could be questionable). The core gameplay is already excellent and in another hundred hours (currently 372 hours, welp) I'll have played as much of Surviving Mars as I have Tropico 3, 4, and 5 combined. For the curious who don't want to do math, I've spent 35 days playing Haemimont's games. Time well-spent!

no its says november PROBABLY, refering to the steam info so yeah thats not sure ...

So what is in 5 days, other than my sisters birthday?
