Playing as Germany, I mounted an invasion of North America from recently conquered Newfoundland. This is obviously an enormous strain on my TC keeping my mechanized forces supplied with fuel and ammo.

The problem arises when most of my puppets and allies decide to dump all of their divisions on me as expeditionary forces. I went the arduous task of sending them all back only to have them all dumped back on me the following day. Needless to say, this unecessarily overwhelms my TC and shortchanges my troops fighting in North America.

Is there any way to prevent my puppets and allies from spamming me with expeditionary forces? I don't really relish the idea of having to go through some 200+ divisions one at a time to give them back to their rightful owners only to have them dumped on me again the following day. Any way to do this en masse and prevent them coming back to me?

Kind of a shame to ditch this game in April 1945, I've had a great time with it, but this seems to be a show stopper.

A little more info:

The problem is resolved if I save, exit and restart, I return control of all expeditionary forces to their rightful owners upon restart, but this fix is only temporary. The puppets and allies spam me with their troops again after a couple of days. Needless to say, it's quite annoying. Hopefully there is some way to fix this.

You'll have to edit the save game. Find the entry for each of your puppets and allies and add this line:
no_exp_forces_to = { GER }
That should fix it.

Ah, I was just about to ask the same question. This business of handing over control of allied forces within the Axis, only for them to return control a day later, caused chaos. I was only able to resolve it by having Germany assume control over almost all of my allied and puppetised nations. Things will be easier now.

I've been trying to insert the "no_exp_forces_to = { GER } command, but my Axis puppet states still return control of most of their forces within a day of my getting rid of them from Germany's control. I have tried inserting the "no_exp.." etc. command after the "switch=no" line after each country's main entry(allies and enemies), and I've even tried inserting the "no_exp.." command after the "military" reference in each country's main entry. Neither option has worked at all, so could someone please tell me exactly where(after which line) I'm supposed to put this command in the savegame file, as I really don't want to have to stop playing this game.

(One possibility occurred to me that I might have accidentally saved the relevant savegame-file into the wrong format. However, I deliberately saved the game as both a text-file, as well as a .eug file, which were the only options., so I don't think it could be that).

G'Kar over at the DAIM, has a fix for your problem, here is the link

Just had a thought. Is this new fix only usable for the DAIM mod? Because I'm only playing CORE 0.25, and I thought it was incompatible with DAIM. Oh well, I'll try anyway, as my game can't be continued without this fix.

Using an AI switch file should work for any HoI2 / DD based mod - just be careful not to go overboard with such things, or the poor old game engine might start to creak a bit !

I general DAIM and core do not work together, this is do to COREs exspanded Tec Trees.but the fix i linked about will not change the research part of the AI file,so it should work fine.

I've just tried to use the above(G Kar's) code for my CORE 0.25 game, and it failed to work(I've been assured that CORE is the same as DAIM as regards the AI files, it's only the tech-trees that are radically different).
Anyway, I was only able to get the successful "no_exps.ai" entry to appear when I put in either the code "event 345678 WAL " or "event 345678 WALL" , after pressing the F12 console button. As I understand it, only the "WALL" term, not "WAL", is the correct abbreviation for Wallonia. It may have worked since it was almost the only puppet-state in the Axis, that didn't have any units put under my control(I'm currently playing as Germany).(actually I don't think Wallonia has any units at all, but it would take ages to check the whole set-up to verify this).

Anyway, for every single other puppet or allied nation(well, Bosnia, Nationalist Spain, Hungary and Romania, so far), it's caused the game to crash every time. A message inevitably appears stating that " the "switch/no_exps.ai" file could not be opened, and then it asks whether you want to continue, with the options below to "ignore" "retry" etc., but which you can't press as the game has stalled completely.

I want to make clear that I copied every minor detail described in the event-code and no_exps.ai file, and didn't miss out any brackets etc, and it still didn't work. It occurred to me that maybe the lack of brackets in the no_exps.ai file might have caused the error, but it didn't work even with the extra brackets. I even tried the event-code 345678 etc. without any mention of the US, just using Germany (ie "GER") instead, but that didn't work either.

Any ideas? It seems odd that I can only get the command to work for Wallonia. Could the problem be that the command gets blocked if I already have expeditionary forces allocated to me by the country in question? That would mean a laborious reallocation of units back to each country, before carrying out each relevant command.
