Core/vanilla events modding question

I enjoy playing the core mod but would like to extend its time scale.I Know i have to applie the NTL patch.I am going to extend all the end dates of the core scenario eug, event files, revolt file and random events to match.Although there will be no more new events the game will still be better than just using the NTL patch as random events and others would still fire if triggered.

My QUESTION is do i have to change any of the end dates in my hoi vannila events folder or does CORE overwrite them all?(including db/events/ai/spheres txt???)
Do i just have to alter the CORE files?????

(I have posted this in modding sub forum as its about modding core and vanilla.I checked the core threads and their was no info on whether the core events overwrite all vanilla events?)!
I hope someone knows the answer?

Rare,

I think whatever is in the CORE directory will take precedent over the vanilla files. So if you find those files in the CORE subdirectory, then I'd say modify those.

The only other thing that might be missing is the leader death dates. I'm not sure (never played beyond 1949 with NTL) but Leaders could start dying off in a hurry if you stretch the game to 1960.

My other suggestions for a CORE extension are:

* Built-in air stacking penalty fix
* Built-in Fix-it-Yourself Pack
* Built-in Sprites

As for the sprites, if you just made a copy of the country.csv files you are currently using, wouldn't they be corrected for all the intricate details of sprite assignment?

I imagine you have all your own sprites installed in your copy, as well as a good assortment of others. If you can remember which ones you installed, they could be batched together into one .rar. Otherwise you could just do a quick n dirty dump of all your sprite files in your current install.

Anyways, keep the flame alive!

Rare,

Have you checked out the Super-AI bundle? I've just downloaded it. Going to check it out more when I have the time.

Looks great. Lothos gave the whole game a workover. Apparently everything is coded in until 1955 (including NATO/Warsaw Pact, etc). Try the no time limit patch with it and let me know what you think.

I added it to the HOI 1.06c upgrades meta-thread on the main forum.

Hello Ck
Thanks for your replies.I will be changing all the core end dates, but i am still intreasted to Know if i should be changing any of the vannilla files.Maybe i should try asking in the core subforum but it is so quiet there now,as is this modding forum.Everyone just seems to talk about all hoi1 questions in the vanilla forum now.

An extension mod could come with the ASP patch, but you would still have to applie it manually,so it might as well stay as a user option choice.
Built in fix- it- yourself pack has to, as does the ASP patch have to be both applied to vannilla and not core.So just would make the Core Extension mod more complicated to make and install.
Sprites would have to be installed to vanilla aswell not core.
A pack of all the sprites would be very large also and may be above upload limits. Also as said before its personal choice.eg I still use L-1 and L-2 original hoi1 german tanks sprites in preference to the new stoney ones. There are multiple sprite options for some models.
I cannot batch all my sprites together(untill i have finished them) as they are a ongoing project and even among my sprites there are starting to be options and choices. A dirty dump of all sprite files is over 150mb in my game( i am sprited up).The stony site upload limit is 10mb and 5.6mb of that is my sprites already posted.
Before i compile all my ww2 sprites to one pack i am going to finish my TGW ww1 sprite pack.(CK do you play TGW mod its great!) My TGW sprite pack will be large with many new sprites.

I hope to release another 5 sprites this week for hoi1 WW2 and there still maybe some more to come.

Yes a large "Dr Rare's Spritement pack  " would come with a copy of my country csv file one for core and one for vannilla and yes i am going to compile one,BUT this will happen eventually ,not soon ( i still have a lot of sprite doctoring to do!!)the rumour starts here!!!!!

Good luck at the front :)

CK I am going to send you a PM(private message)about TGW so check your PM.

Yes i have the super-ai-bundle.It has its own sub forum in this site. Its good but still much prefer CORE and TGW .Make sure you install super ai to a seperate clean install of hoi best not to mix the mods on one install.(I will send you another pm about super ai).

Another mod enhancment you might want to check out is Le Rans New order events pack for Vannilla.....
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5169925#post5169925
Paradox Interactive Forums - New Order Event Pack for HOI 1.06c
It adds many of the new order events that are in core to the vanilla game and has warsaw and yugoslavia uprisings.Which core dosent??
but what needs to be checked is how compatible it is with core it still needs more play testing although core and the new order pack have similar events it needs to be Known if there are any event id number clashs????
If there are no problems using Le Rans patch with core then it would be a vital enhancment to CORE and beyond 1.06c!!!
I wish i had time to work this out myself i drool homer simpson syle over the thought of the warsaw event and yugoslavia event in Core, as in Le Rans patch they are created as countrys properly to crush or support!!! This patch could prove to be a new secret vital component of the game. :cool:also it is the most recent new hoi1 work and has fixed some hoi1 bugs?
Although the new patch is to vanilla game and core should work separatly from it fine, what needs to be known is if its possible to add the patch to play it with core????.
If some one solved or fixed this mystery everybody would use this as an enhancment i am sure.Any Mod-Test-Pilots out there???????
