what is the consensus from players on the effects of those extra provinces?
Does it help the tactical game?
Does it avoid the massive stacks that can make the eastern front seem like WW1?
Does it improve the invasion of France?
Does it alter the game in burma ,china or N.Africa?
Can the AI. cope effectively?

Yes,they are very good for gameplay and realism.

As far as I have seen, The AI can manage to give you some nasty surprises if you left your flanks open ((as I discovered in my first game when invading Ethiopia....... but that is a too, humiliating story, LOL)).

This time you can create quick assault groups that will break through the enemy line, then, you can unleash your panzers and wreak havoc behind enemy lines, encircling enemy army groups, cutting off the supply route to first line units.....man, this time the panzers are FAST, and for first time, there is room to maneavour.

We have added some beaches all over the world. We cannot add many beaches because it would be impossible to defend all of them. If we do that, lot of people would say: Hey, why did you add so many beaches ...?
The AI has been improved and now it carry out more amphibious assaults :)

Yes and I like what you have done immensely!

I was sweeping through France with my Armor, ohh it was so beautiful to see those ARM units just marching through those French costal areas to take Paris and then run down to Vinchy!!!

It was also very sweet to see 2 french units Amp assualt one at calais and the other around Cherburg (spelling). I never espected those landings. They were easily crushed, but still.... it adds something sweet to the reserve strategy that i need now and i like that.

Thanks :) I hope the reserve units with MP brigs work out well in suppression efforts. I'm thinking that the partisans will actually do something in Iron Cross and that will also be interesting to play with.

All-in-all... I DO actually like all the provinces that you have in the game. it definately makes supported attacks more interesting.

Thanks for the reply Dercius.Having bought IC.,I have been loathe to leave AOD.and have only experimented with IC. so far.
The complication of the tech tree has been my main focus, hence my question.
It sounds pretty good from your comments.Perhaps I can dream of AOD. with the IC. map some day.

Yes,I meant AOD. with IC.map.I have bought every version of HOI.and played hundreds/thousands of hours badly. In part, because I role play rather than set out to beat the AI.For me,AOD.is the best so far,but I find on harder difficulty, the east front becomes filled with 9 stack armies with little room for manoeuvre.Hence my original question.
The other problem ,which I hope IC. will finally solve is tech tree boredom, where all techs can be reseached ,usually in the same order.IC.looks interesting in that respect, although I can't get my brain to accept the lack of research years.

The quantity of techs is huge. So.... you have to choose, very carefully. The times when you simply sweept through the diferent techno trees researching everything are over. There is not enough techteam slots to stay ahead in every single field.

You can focus in one or two, and keep a small edge over your enemies ((but the requirements from different tech trees, makes it impossible to have a huge advantage)) :)
IMO the tech tree is one of the best things together with the new map. Its great. The % in research speed bonifications and malus was IMO a great idea, I can only imagine the inmense amount of time devs spent balancing it. HOI2 research years made the game a bit too deterministic for my taste, and the lack of techs made impossible to gain an edge over other major countries :)

Hello;

With IC you will found a new experience in the eastern front. Obviously, in the beginning of Operation Barbarossa there is armies stacked in the front, but when war begins, with the new map, you'll need to deploy your army. IMO stacks with more than 4 divisions are not very operatives in IC ( for mobile war).
And I can assure you that with the IC techtree you will not be bored.:D
