F4 Key Broken

Hi. I've been playing CK2 for a while, and I recently wanted to start coming back to it. My issue is; despite entirely remapping and killing off my f4 key, it is still inputted into CK2 for some reason.

As you know, this brings up the 'LAWS' menu. This menu is opened ever 2-3 seconds without pause. This means the game is entirely unplayable as I cannot keep other menu's open when I need them to be open, and I cannot play CK2.

I currently want to buy DLC on the steam store, but I'm not gonna buy DLC for an unplayable game. Does anyone have any idea on how to remap the shortcut keys for the council, law, intrigue, etc.?

I've read through most of the interface file and I still can't find it.

Also, Paradox devs, do you guys ever plan on making it easier for your player's to change controls?

Not sure i understand your problem.

This menu is opened ever 2-3 seconds without pause.

You push F4, Law tab opens, you can close it again any time.
What's your issue ??

You have to mod it.
How did you "remap and killed off" your f4 key ?

Using KeyTweak. Also, the menu is continually spammed-- meaning the f4 key is inputted every 2-3 seconds, without fail. If I, for example, close it once it opens and open the intrigue tab, F4 is inputted out of nowhere and it closes the intrigue menu and opens my law tab.

Using KeyTweak, I entirely removed any input from F4 on my keyboard. I am on a laptop, as a disclaimer. On my laptop, F4 was a function key that closed entire applications. Whenever I press it now, it does absolutely nothing-- but for some reason, it is still inputted into CK2 albeit it isn't supposed to be doing anything.

So you use KeayTweak and blame the game and call it unplayable?????

Well maybe you shouldn't use that program then and maybe it's this program which is "entirely unplayable", to speak with your own words...

Either way, yo could try changing the Window mode you use, so fullscreen or borderless or windowed.
Maybe that has an effect on the program.

I'll leave any further comment to the official tech support.

The issue was, I was getting this issue for at least three weeks before I decided to use that solution-- I can see where you're coming from, but the issue lies in my keyboard.

I have reinstalled drivers and the whole nine yards already. I believe this entire issue would have been avoided if Paradox just made it easier to change controls, but alas, that's not going to happen. I have to dig through in-game files to play, and even then, there might not be a solution.

Please try the User Mods forum for help on this.

A great idea for the Suggestions forum, I'd say. However it seems unlikely to me that they'd put in such a change so late in this game's life.

1)Do i understand you right, you got that tab coming up without you pressing F4 or any key at all, as you say in your picture post,
and that issue was already present before installing KeyTweak ?
Then your issue would not be a 'broken' F4 key, unless it is indeed the actual key literally broken, but then..

2) You had not changed desktop controls beforehand in some way ?

Well i haven't read anyone else reporting such, thus would think it's not the game causing it.
You could still try a full clean un- and reinstallation, including both CK2 folders (in Steamapps/common and Documents/Paradox..)
and deleteing them manually, assuming that if you did it then through Steam instead, as any automatic way might leave files which could cause file corruption.

That's the only idea i have now, as the game sure won't open tabs just so, definitely not by design.
That weird tab coming up issue is sure not moddable and must be cuased by some issue on your comp.
If the issue is a hardware issue, then try another keyboard first.
