I looked through the threads to see if thee was anything relating to this but didn't see anything. If there is already a thread for it I will gladly contribute to that one instead!

I've been having an issue with my latest game involving Faction wars. Multiple times now, one faction has invited me to war against another. I have agreed, either outright because they've been "a thorn in my side" as well, or under and agreement that I get a portion of the "proceeds." Unfortunately after taking out a few rackets, I will go to attack one, initiate ambush mode, and suddenly will not be able to attack. It will either ask me if I want to declare war first (even though we should already be at war) or just flat out will not let me attack anyone ("no valid targets"). I exit ambush mode to find that I am no longer at war with them. I never receive a request for a sitdown, nor a notification that the faction who invited me to war settled with the faction we are warring against.

For example, the most recent time this has happened: Genna Crime Family invited me to a war against Ragen's Colts. I accepted for two of his rackets in a district I was building up. I took out the two rackets that were agreed upon, took them over, and sold them just to cut out competition for my existing rackets of the same type. I went to another district to attack another, and when I initiated ambush mode I could not attack anyone, despite being 3 squares away on the grid with no cover in between myself and one of the guards outside of the racket. I exited ambush mode to find that Ragen's Colt's was no longer on the right-hand side under the list of active wars. I had checked that we were still at war both before and after attacking each racket, as it had already happened a few times and I thought I just missed the notificiation.

TLDR; Faction wars that I am invited to are ending without any notifications, leading to me attack/ attempt to attack factions I am not at war with.

Attached is a copy of my latest save if that helps.

I hear you mate. If you are at war with no other allied faction, opposing faction cannot sneak end war without your say. But if you have another faction involved, them A.I.'s can have a sit down without you, have a prolonged chit-chat, have a dozen drinks, smack talk about player character's heredity and appearance, and finally shake hands and make peace, all within 0.1 second after your opponent faction A.I. decides it's had enough loss.

So if you had enough with a faction and it's time to take them out, go to war by yourself. Forced ceasefire with a long cooldown before being able to attack same faction again is not fun.

Lmao yeah it's definitely frustrating to have them just decided "Nah we cool now" and not tell the other guy who was in the fight. You think there'd be a sort of "Hey uhh... don't shoot them anymore, we cool." from the faction you joined in war lol. That's exactly what I ended up doing, just saying F it and taking them out on my own.

Thank you for taking it into consideration! I'll be sure to jump on here if anything else pops up, but so far your team has been very on point with any issues I have seen! I'm really loving the game<3

Yes, i agree with the other comments, kind of weird to suddenly being out of war without notification. I have noticed also that i can sign peace and end the war with a faction even when i am only an ally. So someone invites me to war, we get enough warscore to make the enemy accept peace, and i can decide by my self to end the war, without asking my ally...really strange.

Maybe the war leader (the gang declaring the war, or the gang that is being declared and call you in as an ally) should be the only one able to sign peace? And you should always get a notification when this happens. Maybe also an ally could sign a separate peace (only for them selves) in a war, but at the cost of losing honor, notoriety...

Also, when i request peace with another gang because i have already destroyed them i want to be able to ask for things in return for peace. When it is them proposing the peace they offer stuff. Why can we not ask for stuff too if its us asking for peace? That should include not only money or liquor, but maybe also racks.
Just some ideas, you could take a look at how peace and war works in other paradox games, for example europa universalis 4 :)
