Yay, Brilliant AncientSwan :) My home island after leaving the UK nearly 7 years ago.

Yes, this is definately an 'advanced' map due to the terrain. I'm going to have fun ... small population is the aim (circa 17,000 IRL). Just Horta City with its cargo, ferry and airport. Lots of other small settlements (villages). Lots of cows :) Nothing way up the slopes except trails, forests and parks.... and lost tourists. Love the view of Pico accross the channel. It's stares me in the face daily from my living room and kitchen and it looks spot on in your recreation. Now, the French and German pack will get used... a lot of that sort of influence here as well as the Iberian influence of course. Thanks again for creating this... I can only imagine the pain of the rivers/streams!

No worries buddy, only things I will add is that although rivers are not currently overflowing, if youre not careful with your roads or lots its possible to change the terrain and then cause the rivers to flood over. :/
Also, for not building too high up, unfortunately the map editor is currently broken again and the starting tiles couldnt be moved downhill to Horta where I had wanted, so the starting square is quite a way up the hillside. Ill come back to fix that once the editor is fixed too.
Cheers,
AS

Thanks Mr. Swan. Your efforts are truly appreciated - I have started building the harbour roads and teminals... this could take a while! I play sandbox, so no worries about the starting tile for me :) And yea, it rained ALL day yesterday and lots of places got flooded in Horta and Almoxsharife, as the previously dried up river beds just gushed on their way down to the sea. Amazing. But, as one local said, thank god that we are built with eveything going to the sea, and the water just rushes past. LOL.
