"Failed to create a graphcis device" error today (after MS update & Demo uninstall)

It was working well until today on XP PC in non-fullscreen 1600x1200 on a second monitor. Today I uninstalled the CK Demo using the start menu uninstall option. I also installed theupdates Microsoft was pushing on me, except for the Security Update for Microsoft Silverlight KB2668562, wich failed to install on a coupled of attempts. Including after fresh reboots, the game after clicking start on the loader goes to


Error

Failed to create a graphics device. This might be because you have more than one screen/graphics card. You could try to write adapter=1 in the settings file.

with an OK button, of course



I tried adapter=1, and 2 for that matter, but no luck.

Any help on what this means wouild be appreciated.

Tried a reinstall, then an uninstall with removal of the settings file and a reinstall so it would be fresh. With the same result. As always, I pick the repair rather than remove option for Microsoft Redistributable on the assumption it is something needed for the game.

I have not tried to reinstall the demo. Don't know if Silverlight has any effect on this but it "could not be installed" and I don't know how to find nd rollback the last updates.

Thanks. There was a posted glitch with the Silverlight security updates. Since I could not install as described, I uninstalled Silverlight and the game runs. I'll see if it still does once I reinstall Silverlight and see if they have fixed the updates.
