Hello,

I've searched through the forums and attempted suggested solutions (reinstalling, updating drivers, updating DirectX, running it as admin outside Steam) but have been unable to find a solution. I have 355 hours on CK2 and suddenly I started getting an error yesterday: "Failed to create graphics device. Exiting." Does anyone have a recommendation for solving this problem? I recently installed Holy Fury, but I was able to play it for a few hours before the game crashed and I began getting this error upon trying to start the game.

Thank you!

The game itself did not change yesterday, nor does it look like you have had a Win10 or driver update that recently.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

The game cannot find the video driver in directX:
[gfx_settings.cpp:108]: Failed to create a device [D3DCREATE_HARDWARE_VERTEXPROCESSING]... trying software.
[gfx_settings.cpp:120]: Failed to create device (Adapter[0])

- uninstall the nVidia driver and all associated utilities
- reboot
- install the latest one by fresh download from here:
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
- reboot again

That should do it!
