Hi everyone!

Just purchased Victoria complete and am having trouble getting it to start.
The first time I ran the game it got the the intro video before my antivirus(avg) told me it was a virus. I added it to the exceptions but now whenever i start it, it says " failed to create a graphics device" and will not start. Ive tried deleting local data and reinstalling, restarting steam, updating drivers, running as admin, and deleting the ..../maps/cache directory as some sites advised.

System specs:
Windows 8.1
Nvidea GTX 980
Intel 4790k 4.00ghz
asus z97-A motherboard
not sure what else would be relevant.

Any help is appreciated.

Regards,
heroLem0n

Edit: I just tried to run Victoria:revolutions, i get an error message that it cant run the video after the train intro video (which is the second one). Not sure if this might help shed some light on the problem with vic2 or is a whole new issue:/

If you open your Victoria game directory you'll see a sub-directory which is named avi. Inside of it are the intro video and its drivers located. The drivers are outdated, therefore simply rename or delete this sub-directory and start the game.

Btw, do yourself a favour and copy your installed game to another location outside of your local steam directory. Most games do run fine without steam.

and deleting the ..../maps/cache directory as some sites advised.

This advice is usually made for Paradox games which are using the Clausewitz engine. Victoria:Revolutions is using the Europa engine which was used before the Clausewitz engine was introduced. Victoria II is using the Clausewitz engine.
