I played with Ottoman Master last night and it turned into a great game. He is an expert player. I played RCC and he played FUSA. He crushed Dark Cathedral then the Night of the Living Dead event fired spawning zombie Marauders around Boston and I took my chance and declared war.
The timing was useful as I thought I could split his territory by quickly pushing into the middle which would cut his army in two and maybe put some of it out of supply.
But I made some big mistakes. His air force is incredibly powerful. Ground attack was obliterating my battalions and I found I could not strategic redeploy away to escape. I did not have that tech. Also, to my horror, my troops weren't digging in. You might recall that you get triple the dug in modifier as a defensive bonus vs air attack. I did not have the tech that allowed dig in.
I had to withdraw my entire army back to Canada to defend the rivers and I lost 3-4 battalions along the way.
Also, my troops were not as strong as his. Plus he concentrated his whole army against me. Plus he had that one APC unit and one powered Scout unit. Plus his regulars were higher level than mine. It was a NIGHTMARE! ahahahah
I could not even hold the rivers. So I withdrew my entire army back to the capital to await the inevitable.
"Defend the Queen! Damn those Yankees, ey."
As he was slowly crushing me, he offered a peace taking some land and making me his puppet. Annexed by the damned USA AGAIN??!? NEVER!!!
He segmented my territory in two also and had some forces working around Detroit. My locked garrison in Detroit and my one Regulars unit nearby drew supplies from my allies so they did not go out of supply. In absolute desperation, I send the regulars into the Rad Zombie Wastes of Columbus to try and spawn the Zombie Apocalypse. It never happened though. I guess the Zombie population was not exploding out control yet... hehehehe
While this was happening, I allied with Caesar and the Junkers. They joined my war. I was counting on this to help me. Yet Caesar had a NAP with FUSA so even though I took military control, they could not enter FUSA territory. So I withdrew as I said hoping the game would end soon.
The enemy was closing in on me and then I decided to try Junkers military control as I realised they didn't have a NAP with FUSA. Which worked! They could attack!
They had hired three Slavers' Guild famous mercenary units: Natasha's Black Widows with medium model auto raiders, Marek's Mutant Maulers with two tough Mutant infantry, and the Northwind Highlanders with two mid level Human regular infantry with motorised transport attachments.
The junkers swept into middle and southern FUSA and took out all those provinces with almost no resistance. The infrastructure is good down there so Ottoman Master could not even get any units back in time. I ate his airbases and presumably destroyed those pesky air units. I ate his lands. I ate his IC. Bwahahahahaha!
He asked for a white peace which I granted. In my opinion, it would have been close as to whether his army would crush my entire army in my capital before running out supplies due to having no IC and Junkers army arriving in time to help me. The NAP between Caesar and FUSA also expired. But I forgot to mention that Junkers and Caesar were also at war with Manitou Tribes who were rampant down south. So Caesar could not help at all. The Junkers army was weak except for those famous mercenaries.
I accepted the white peace and saved the Royal Canadian Commonwealth. I relinquished military control of Junkers and they got crushed by FUSA once I let them go. I could've kept fighting a proxy war through them but I decided to be honourable and keep the peace.
This was a great test game which has inspired me to mod more. I will definitely reduce the strength of the first tier of air units. I will do work in the north around FUSA, RCC, Caesar. There are some great threads on the Terranova forum about FUSA and Caesar. Time to rework that sector more.
We intend to continue this game next Friday night. The year is 1939 from memory. In time, FUSA could easily crush RCC. They are too strong in this mod as we've all known about for a long time. The next version of FODD, that is 2.1, will likely be a move of Caesar, changes to FUSA and work to make this mod more compatible with the FO3 storyline. I won't remove FUSA, but with moderate changes, the mod could plausably fit into FO3 better. This mod is set decades before FO3 timeframe so there is some wiggle room anyway.
